There are a lot of technical savvy people and a quick search revealed little information, so I thought I'd ask you.

I make a lot of long distance calls, mostly to the States and to Europe, and am sick and tired of paying ridiculous long distance fees, waiting for my roommate's landline to be available and calls from my mobile costs an arm and half . I have been looking into VoIP services and after browsing, narrowed it down to Skype and Gizmo5. I plan to mostly call landlines and mobiles, with the occasional PC call. Having very minimal experiences with VoIP (I only used Skype about four times), I was wondering if anyone has any experiences, expertise, advice and opinions to impart in which is best?

A little technical facts: I have a MacBook laptop with a Mac OS X 10.5.5 software. It has a 2 GB memory and the processor speed is 2 GHz. And I have wireless internet.

Thank you in advance .

I use Skype as well. As a matter of fact, I have it on my PSP that I travel with. It's a great device to use for travel because of the movies and because you CAN Skype with it. When I call a telephone, it's only 2 cents a minute, and it auto-recharges if the funds go below a certain level. If I find free wi-fi abroad; bam! I'm talking to people I know all over the world, no problem.

Thank you .

I do have a question - do you use Skype for PC to PC calls or PC to phone?

Skype will work fine on your Mac. It works on mine. I've used it for both PC to PC (Mac to Mac and Mac to Windows ) and for PC to phoneline. Only the connection speeds and other external issues will affect the quality of the call be it video/audio or just audio.

Oh yeah, and since I tested it with djskrimp, he's right, PSP to Mac works great for voice calls too. :)
