Are you a member of this special group ?
You're always thinking of freind'S birthdays and always send them little present, you know, nothing too big but small surprises that they might enjoy.
And then come your own birthday.......yep, maybe a short call or only a short sms on your cell phone.

That's pretty annyoing. I hope the person I just sent a present to will at least answer me.

I've had similar things happen to me, Snoopy. ((((Snoopy))) (Those are hugs, btw.)

It's gotten to the point where I just don't bother sending cards/gifts to those people anymore. :(

My friend M promised to take me to the movies - and then she went and squeezed out a little daughter, so now she's unable to go out without the little thing.

Timing.

Well, I guess she could get probation for that. :)

Thnx for the hugs. :)
Well, I'm not THAT pissed but I just sometimes ask myself if I should even bother with sending presents.
It's the same with little everyday-surprises, I never get any but give a lot.

Snoopy, 'I thought love was more or less a given thing, but it seems the more I gave the less I got...'

Nah, she's already grounded...;)

Lol. :) That cracked me up. Because sadly a file hidden inside a cake wouldn't do her any good, would it ?

Hey, that's me! On my b-day, my best friend called to tell me about her current relationship issues. After yakking for about a half hour, she said, oh before I forget, happy birthday. Well, at least she remembered. :)

After 14 years with the ex, all he ever bought me was a CD.

I suppose I should be grateful.

I also got two gorgeous little girls from him ;)

2 kids in 14 years is alright. But only one CD seems a bit few.

You know, I EXACTLY know what you're talking about. The thought of making someone's day by a small gift or present or whatever just puts a huge smile on my face.
And you're probably right, even if I get über-pissed by it sometimes I probably won't change.

I enjoy the phone call, or the card, or the drink. I prefer that my friends don't get me anything because then I feel obligated to get them something, but no matter how many times I tell them not to . . .

They come to expect a call or a card or a drink from me now. Christmas is the only time of the year I buy gifts for anyone, unless I'm sleeping with them . . . because I want to continue sleeping with them. :D Joking of course.

I'm with you vella.

I have a special box I keep small things I collect as I shop in. The girls know all about it and are always hinting they 'deserve' a present for this, that and the other LOL

and LOL Charlie.

that's me too. I just remember them in the back of my mind for when they want something, like a babysitter, help moving and such and suddenly I'm not free to help out. That's mean I know but I can be a down right bitch when I wanna be. And how hard would it be to send a card with a special note back on my special day.

When I lived in southern Mississippi, I learned of the charming custom of giving "little happies."

A "little happy" is a small gift, nothing expensive, given just because.

I fell in love with the idea, and I've kept doing it, regardless of anyone reciprocating or not. It makes me feel good, and that's all that matters.
