mmmmmm..peanut butter patties

That's what I've been snacking on since we ordered some from my younger cousin. Yummy. :)

I like to take the peanut butter patty....lick and bite all the pb off and then float the cookie part in some ice cold milk til it's kind of soggy..

i think i just came!

Samoas........and tag-a-longs (the peanut butter n'
chocolate ones).....then thin mints.......YUMMY! :D

Okay, I was a Girl Scout for twelve years. What the hell are peanut butter patties?

Do you mean Do-Si-Dos?

EE, that doesn't look anything like the list of Girl Scout cookies I know. Where are the Samoas? Where are the Tagalongs? The only one I recognize is Thin Mints.

Do they change by region?

Samoas are now known as Caramel Delites?

So, they were worried about pissing off Samoans, but not people who prefer to spell correctly?

I've got a box of Samoas in the cupboard right now, so I know they didn't change the name. I think EE lives in some Bizarro Girl Scout dimension, where all the cookies have stupid names. ;)

No, im tellin ya....things have changed a bit. I dont know where you got somomas....or maybe the boxes will say it. Ya want me to scan the orderform?

* edited to mention my scanner hasnt worked in over a year:rolleyes:

I ran downstairs real fast to check the boxes. The Samoas are definitely Samoas, not Caramel Delites. But lo and behold, on the Tagalong boxes, in smaller letters, it says "Peanut Butter Patties." And on the Do-Si-Do boxes, also in smaller letters, it says "Peanut Butter Cremes."

All the boxes say only "Made in the USA" but the corporation is based in Kentucky. I got them here in California.

I think this has got to be some weird regional thing. Girl Scout cookies have had these names since I was a first-grader. I don't know if they've anglicized the names in your area recently, or if it has always been like that. Weird.

Also, we don't have any friendship cookies or animal cookies. We do have "Olés" which are like Mexican wedding cookies.

Ok, I got the scoop. This, from the Cookie FAQ:
Q: Why are your cookie varieties/names of cookies/prices different from the ones my neighbor is selling?
There are three companies licensed to bake Girl Scout cookies. While certain varieties of cookies are common to all three, other varieties are made by only one of these bakers. Also, while the bakers all make certain varieties, they do not necessarily call them by the same names. So, you may know Caramel deLites by the name another baker calls them, Samoas.

Each of the more than 300 Girl Scout councils in the U.S. contracts independently with a baker. Patriots' Trail Girl Scout Council currently works with ABC. Each council also sets its own per-box prices, depending on the council's financial picture and other factors.

And then this:

It seems that Samoas don't really equal Caramel DeLites.
Indeed, it does seem that this whole name thing can give us insights into the varied regional character of the Girl Scout Nation.
