Not my thing. But please, tell me, HOW DID THEY PULL THEIR KNICKERS UP? They would of - I suppose:
1) Went knickerless
2) Unfastened their stockings, rolled the girdle up around their waist, pulled their knickers up, rolled their girdles back down, re-fastened their stockings and let their skirt fall back into place
3) Wore cami-knickers, i.e. combinations, with two buttons at the gusset of the knicker section

I can't believe people actually wore those things, though I well remember the adverts on television!
