I recently found that I had a new fetish (or maybe it was an older one that I re-discovered). I saw these pictures and became instantly aroused.

It stems, I'm sure from an old girlfriend-one of my first. It was the late 1970's and early 80's. After church on Sunday and Wednesday nights, we'd end up parking at a lake. After making out for awhile, we'd crawl in the back seat. I'd kneel between her legs and tug on the bottom of her girdle, while she arched her back and wriggled the top down. Then, I'd peel off her pantyhose before finally sliding down her panties. A lot of work, but well worth it when I finally got my head between her legs.

Anyone else out there with a similar attraction?

And ladies, do women even wear girdles anymore, or are Spanx the order of the day?

Some years ago, I had a couple of Christian Dior panty girdles that were very similar to the first pic. One was peach, the other black. I no longer have them. Why did I have them?

Let me just state right here that if you're not into periods, you may not want to read the rest of this. Or you might want to skim over some of it.

So... When I was younger and danced, our only options for protection were a belted pad, tampon in cardboard tube or if we were really enlightened, a sea sponge. I had no clue about the sponges, could not get those clumsy tampons to come out of the applicators and had to wear the dreaded belted pads.

Now when you are wearing a tight leotard and tights, not only did the bulky pad show though, but the plastic and metal clips and if you were super skinny like me, the belt itself as well. Hence, the dance girdle which was the precursor to panty girdles or Spanx as we know them today. No spandex yet in those days.

A girdle in those days usually contained bones. Yes, bones. Not sure what animal the bones came from. Or in some cases, instead of bones, they used something called "stays". They might be made of metal, plastic or possibly even Bakelite. Bakelite technically is a plastic but most of us would think of it as a precursor to plastic as we know it today. It was rigid to the point of being brittle. Stays are still used today in corsets and yes there is a market for those. If you are into girdles, you may well be into corsets too.

At any rate, these things were beasts! Thick cotton, thick elastic and many rigid bones or stays. There were no pantyhose in those days so the girdle had four clips at the bottom. The clips held the woman's stockings up.

Now the odd thing to me in thinking about it now is... If we had tights, why not pantyhose? Keep in mind that I am American. What the British call tights are what we call pantyhose but the denier (thickness and weave) are different with what we call tights being made of a closer weave and generally thicker. That being said... The tights and leotards available today are in no way like what we wore back then. Today they are much more form fitting because we have newer materials to make them be so.

But I kind of digressed there. The reason I wore a dance girdle was to help more fully cover and smooth out the area where the belt. clips and pad were. AFAIK there are no dance girdles being made for women any more. There are still dance girdles for men. They kind of serve the same purpose for the guy in that they keep the family jewels pressed into the body. Imagine a guy in white tights doing a high leap and springing a hard on. Okay... I just imagined that. *fans self*. I do have a thing for Mikhail Baryshnikov in white tights. Hehehe. Here's a little eye candy for those who are into him. Oooh yeah!

Sorry for the big ass link.

Anyway... Fast forward to many years later and I found myself with periods so heavy that even if I used the biggest tampon I could find, I needed a pad as backup. By then there were tampons with no applicators and stick on pads. The problem? None of my panties held the pad close enough. So I remembered the dance girdle and how well they worked. I already had the two panty girdles. I did not buy them because I was into girdles but because they were Christian Dior. I happened to find them for cheap at the Nordstrom Rack and it's not often that you find designer stuff for such a cheap price. At any rate, they worked fine for holding the pad close.

You can still get things as in your pics and even the old time girdles like I described. The older ones came two ways. One was more like a long legged panty and the other had an open bottom. Women mostly wore dresses in those days. Just imagine all the stuff they had to put on! Most would wear panties, then a girdle over those, then if the girdle didn't have the stocking clips on it, a garter belt, a bra, stockings, a slip (full or half), or they might opt for an all in one which is essentially like a leotard or one piece bathing suit with added bones and stays.

This place sells girdles, including similar to your pics and the older type as well.

I think the main reasons these things fell out of favor are... They're not particularly comfortable to wear. They can make you sweat like a pig because they're not very breathable. Unless you already have a pretty good figure to begin with, they flat out do not do what they are intended to do. As in... Yes, they will smooth out the fat in one area but by doing so, they will push that fat somewhere else, thereby making the wearer look a tad freakish. And they can show through your clothing if there are seams or lace or a pattern. I know cross dressers (or at least some of them) love wearing slips, most women do not and will not wear them. They are just another layer to contend with and they do make the wearer hot.

But more importantly, I think that a lot of women simply want to embrace who they are. They don't feel the need to try to look smaller by wearing a girdle or try to make their boobs look bigger with a padded bra. I don't even know that many women who wear Spanx. I do know one. She's rather vain and obnoxious IMO. As in drives a Mercedes, only wears designer clothing and makes sure you know it, etc.

I think the market for this kind of stuff now is more for the fetish aspect of it and in some cases (depending on what the item is) for burlesque dancers.

I love girdles and all feminine undergarments. Goes back to the days where the only visuals I could masturbate to were the sears and jc penny catalogs. Probably why I love to crossdress also.

Jada, that's an awesome post full of great information. Shame it may go overlooked because it's technical rather than sexy. :rose:

I enjoyed her post. I am really into dressing in and looking at women’s undergarments

In my much younger days when I was still passable as a cross-dresser, I would wear a slightly long open bottom girdle to allow my cock to swing free and point down so it didn't make a tent in my skirt when it got hard. Then micro-mini skirts became the rage and I had to change to pantyhose to prevent the tent. After I was no longer passable I continued to wear girdles under my male attire at work in colder weather, but wore a garter belt, hose, and thong panties in warmer weather.

I hated it in the 70's when my girlfriend wore girdles. Too hard to get the damn things off! Plus, she only weighed 115 pounds and didn't need a girdle.

Speaking about fetish, anyone interested in Latex fetish clothing I am not so big fan of fetish, but I am interested in some latex fetish outfit. It will be nice hentai cosplay for example. Also, I heard that latex clothes is good choice for some sex games.

I hate to be the fly in the ointment (KY Jelly?) here but those aren't girdles, they are control top panties.

That's wear open-bottom girdles are great. You don't have to take them off to fuck. You could both wera one and still be able to fuck. By the way, weight has nothing to do with looking sexy in a girdle.
