I will be your VJ for edgy, dark and otherwise offensive music videos hand picked by me  Some will be new, others will be from my teenage years in the 90's. I will also dwell in classic Alternative from the 70's and 80's. I may also expand into Metal and Goth. We shall see.

So lets start with two videos...

Peaches and Iggy Pop Iggy Pop, a really sexy ugly man.

Lydia Lunch - Afraid Of Your Company Listen close to the lyrics. They are very poetic. This is from her 1982 album, 13:13

You need to go back further than the 80's to get really edgy music. Not very many videos though, unless converted from 8mm film, but some of the late 60's - early 70's stuff is about as edgy as it gets.

The Pusher
Procol Harum

But, if you want to stay with the 80's...

4 Non Blondes

This screams '90's Hipster'. Stay from Lisa Loeb. This song was aaaaaallllllll over MTV. My girl friends and I could not get enough of her. This song still strikes a strong emotional response in me.

Stay

This song also till gets to me. Joan Osborn's What is God?

And yeah, yeah, God is great
Yeah, yeah, God is good
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

What if God was one of us?
Just a slob like one of us?
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make His way home?

I guess you have noticed I have a strong emotional connection with the 90's.

Although these where popular albums from David Bowie, there are some very esoteric songs on them that are largely forgotten. But I find them very atmospheric and still enjoy them. They are all instrumentals.

There is Neukoln, Moss Gardens, Sense Of Doubt

David Bowie, Heroes

He also did the same on an earlier album, Low.

Warszawa, Art Decade, Weeping Wall, Subterraneans

David Bowie, Low

The Pusher

The version that's the full B side of "Early Steppenwolf'.

And Emerson, Lake and Palmer's Brain Salad Surgery which includes gems like Toccata.

This song invokes a lot of emotion in me. Pink Floyd's Welcome to the Machine. It creates a quiet stillness in me. I was surprised to learn it was an early work of theirs. So this video was obviously produced long after the song was released.

This was scandalous back in the day. Well, it would still be now because the prudes and church ladies are still skulking about.
