Ooooh! The QUESTION! I'd advise you to run and hide quickly before they all get here. Oh, and the answer. Who knows, but it takes less time if you leave chocolate.

A welcome  for the little newbie from the good little witch.

Oh snap! He/she asked THE QUESTION! I'm going to tape this and put it on YouTube.

Welcome!

I'll be a bit more helpful maybe (the chocolate trick didn't work for me). If you have submitted a story that is perfect in terms of grammar and spelling it seems to go through within a day or two. If not they reject it after 2-4 days. So you edit and re-submit and then after 2-4 days it goes through. Unless it's one of mine, then it takes over a week.

Answers.............YES

Thank you truly red beauty, that is exactly what I needed to know. But I still don't understand the chocolate references thought, LOL

Over a week at least is the average time for a new writer. As you gain experience and the powers that be know you, it takes less and less time. Certain categories take longer than others to post, too. Various contests and the like also have an effect on the submission to posting continuum.

Did someone mention chocolate? Where's mine? I want chocolate too!

(the reference is about how to bribe the powers of Lit. Jenny Jackson only takes cash, but others here will try to get everything from money to the kitchen sink. Your question is one that has been asked by many newbies over the years and one that inspires scads of jokes. Welcome to Lit. ;) and remember to have fun.)

Normally it takes about four to seven days for a story to post, however, now that you have asked THE QUESTION, in order for your story to ever see the light of day, you will have to fill out 742 different forms, in triplicate, and in green ink only, do 28 pushups, and 76 jumping jacks, all the while balancing a bowl of wild rice on your head. Don't forget to send your firstborn child in with the application, or a promissory note promising payment of your firstborn child should you be childless at this point.

Um... You forgot to mention the two pints of blood to be taken at the leisure of the Powers of Lit, and the challenge-task to be assigned at a later date. I believe the last time a task was assigned, it was to recover the Golden Fleece. I could be mistaken, though.

And then it may still take a long time. I ended up having to hold the Fleece hostage to get mine up!

I can too! Mommy said I could! *said in the defiant child-type manner*

*spanks the brat*

Will offers of oral ease the way? Not that I want to lick out Jenny (but I wouldn't mind  )

And if you want it to take twice as long, go click on the little pending button. You can edit it that way but it goes to the end of the line again.

Oh and welcome to the madhouse. We don't bite unless you like that and ask nicely. :)

Seven days, hardly ever more or less, unless you are submitting to a contest, and then it can go up within a day. I've submitted one just about every other day for nearly two years, and the time for it to go up has hardly every wavered off seven days (unless it was a for contest).

My last non-contest one went up in four days, and the one before that went up in five, which has proved a trend of late. I used to see 6-7 days average, but I'm seeing more of 5-6 days recently.
