I don't know if this is the right place to post, but I know plenty of people look for Kik friends here, so I thought I'd try...

Does anyone have any recommendations for ways to get kik on a PC? I've searched online, but all the sites I find have a slightly, well, dodgy feel to them, and I'm suspicious that I'll actually be downloading malware.

Has anyone found a reliable way to get Kik on their PC?

If a person finds a version of andriod operating system and installs it then you can't run kik through that. It could have issues with some applications within kik like the camera.

Skype is a great choice for people who need PC instant messaging as well as on-the-go texting. I don't think there is an easy way to get Kik on PC.

If you are still keen on using it, you can get Kik working on your computer through VirtualBox, as well as other Android apps (via Google Store, once you install it). The installation isn't very difficult and there are plenty of tutorials online. Get VirtualBox, get the latest Android ISO image, install it accordingly to your OS (see the tutorials) and you're good to go. I am not sure if by doing/installing this on your computer, you can get camera access/usage with Kik like a regular phone, but the chat app works just fine. Source: Myself. I have Lollipop 5.0 installed in my computer.

kik for pc

I've never tried it but allegedly you can just download kik pc to your computer without an emulator.

There seem to be different ones, through a google search you should be able to find one that works.

Kik is a java based program. It's used on windows based phones as well as apple based systems. It should work fine on a PC. Java is in your computer phone car DVD player and many other things. Oh and you Skype user its a windows based program or it started on a windows pc then the program but written in java. If you have used any chat program they all require java to run.

If you have it on your phone, you can use the Chrome app Vysor to mirror it on your PC if it's plugged in through USB. Keyboard and mouse work that way.

Thanks, all, for the advice. I'm using it through Bluestacks, and it's working just fine.

And, yes, I know about Skype. The fact that every single message I post here has a link to my Skype ID ought to have been a bit of a giveaway...
