Hello everyone,

I have been wanting to loose a few pounds, and improve my physique for awhile now, and have been doing some reading as to a good program to participate in. The one I picked out is the "Body For Life" program.

One of the things they encourage you to do, is to take a before photo of yourself, and keep it so that you know where you started so as you work out, you can see all improvements.

My idea is this: I will post my initial pic on here shortly, and each week I will add a new pic, showing any possible improvement. If anyone here would like to join me in my quest, taking an initial picture, and posting thier improvements, that would be great! We could start a nice big "Literotica Get in Shape" thread. Any comments, or encouragement for the members who participate would be great.

Anyone have any ideas or comments before I start? I will probably be opening a separate thread for it Monday to start in earnest?

Thanks everyone, and once I start, feel free to comment or add your own photos!

Interesting idea...I can certainly see the practial logic behind it.

Those people that choose to redefine or alter their physical appearance all find inspiration in various ways of their own. I myself find no satisfaction in my body...knowing as I do it's shortcomings.

Good luck in achieving your goal... I'm sure you will find a supportive soul or two around here to keep you on your toes.

I always recommend the body for life program. It helps beginners not make some basic mistakes that i see. i work as a personal trainer. The most important thing is to work hard when you exercise. You will only be exercising for 3.5 hours a week, but make every minute count. When the set says to do 6 reps, make sure that you cant do much more than 6. If you can do more, then do them. But next time you know you need to add more weight.

Also, remember to always progress. Add a few pounds every few workouts. Also add a little more each time to the cardio. Get those high points high.

Food. Follow the instructions. 6 meals, each one with protein and carbs. eat 3 meals and if you can afford it 2-3 shakes. You will see the kind of results others see in 12 weeks. At that point you will want to go through it another 1-2 times. then you will want to switch to another program.

dude what kind of shale do you recommended. and how much cardio is a good amount?

I agree with you NJ...

NJ, that is exactly the reason I picked out this program. I tried to start twice unsucessfully because of a smattering of reasons I made up to cause me to fail, but this time I have actually made a binder than has my week schedule, the reasons I am doing it, and some inspirational stuff written in it to read every morning.

One of the things I have written is:

Don't be content to play the good game... play to win-

Written to the top of that line, are the reasons I want to change. In the back of the binder in permanant marker is written the goals I will accomplish by following the program, and I will accomplish these goals by... etc etc etc...

One of these things is "Push myself at every workout"

If you think about it, you only do 3 upper body workouts every two weeks. that means I will only do 18 upper body workouts total in a 12 week cycle. If I don't push myself, how can I expect the kind of results I want from 18 times at the gym? Thats just nuts!

Anyhow, for those of you who are waiting for pics, they will be up Monday. I start my first workout in 7 or so hours, after I hit the rack. After I get back from the gym I will photograph and weigh myself before I take a shower, and then do some errands.

Note: If you follow this program DO NOT BUY FROM GNC (General Nutrition Centers) I wanted to buy some Myoplex to fill in the extra meals that i wont want to prepare. a 42 pack of these meals at GNC was around a hundred bucks, when I can get two 42 packs online for $113! No need to run yourself broke trying to get in shape!

Overall I hope some people here either join me from the outset, or start working with me, and we can help motivate eachother. Heck, maybe when I feel better about myself I might even be pursuaded to show a little more skin... among other things.

Thanks all for reading this thread, and lets keep it going!

My other side of the coin advice...

Well...

I identified that my eating habits hadn't really changed since I was at High School and Uni, but my body shape was. I found doing what you did at school to keep the chips and pizzas from showing is not only fun, but it is fun. (yes the double-up is intended)

I still see a few of my Uni buddies and a while back we identified we were turning into fat bastards.

As a group of friends, we all bought skateboards and bmxs. We get together before going out of a weekend, and we skate around the roof of a shopping centre, or when we head out to see each other, we try to ride the bmx. It only has one gear, so it is a real workout.

Leave the car at home, and go out as a group of friends and play silly buggers again. You're never too old to get outside and enjoy it. Skating outside with friends is always a better place to talk about personal issues, including sex, than over treadmills at the gym.

I'd personally rather talk about different anal sex and webcam ideas on the empty night air of a carpark than around a room of sweaty strangers all thinking about which addition to their home-theatre setup is going to increase their standard of living the most.

Get out there, and don't be concerned about losing all of the fat, it's very hard to pump hard when your pelvis bone keeps knocking on someone else's pelvis bone. If you're on this board, I assume you're the type of person that will always value good sex, and a good life over good appearances.

For the ultimate workout, try this. Get your girlfriend to get some rollerblades, and then tie a bit of rope as a loop around the seat of your bike as a handle for her to hold onto with a bit of give. Now pedal to the park or town or where ever as long as it is at least a 5 mile / 10 k round trip.

I normally find by the time the person on rollerblades has had it with exercising, the person on the bike has just started getting into it, so this way it's a lower workout for the rollerblader, as more work is spent on keeping balance than keeping speed, and the two of you are able to hold a conversation the entire time, which in my books is counted as real quality time.

Your girl will probably be quite appreciative of you being prepared to drag her around (literally) and let her have a great day out. You will find this rewarding not only for getting fit, but also when you both get back home and the fight for first shower leaves you both huddled in the cubical.

The pics... finally

Sorry everyone for keeping you waiting...

I am currently on day 9, and am very happy with how it has been going.

I started at 204.5 with shorts and gym shoes... I am down to 199 lbs with the same outfit.

I will keep you updated as things happen... Next pics are in three weeks.

I think it's awesome what you're doing! :) Although, personally I don't think you need to lose weight, just maybe tone up a little. I think we all could do that.:) Keep us posted with your progress.
