Grace was the 28 year old second wife of Brent Sherwood, owner of the Los Angeles Rams. They lived in an obscenely large mansion in Beverly Hills with a service staff, and because of this, Grace found herself with not a lot to do. Her husband had more money than he ever let on, and due to this she never had to work.

The petite brunette was loved by Brent, very much so. He trusted her with his kids from his previous marriage, but his one true love, she discovered after the honeymoon, was his team. He worked 14 hour days, and due to this he’d leave the house early and come home late. They slept in separate beds sometimes, so he wouldn’t ruin her sleep pattern. It was thoughtful, but their sex life was almost non-existent.

Grace didn’t let it affect her too much, she spent her days socialising and lunching, organising parties and spending lots of money. She was always well dressed in designer labels, she drove the newest Maserati convertible that Brent could get his hands on and she liked to travel to New York to shop whenever possible.

Today, she had to go to the stadium to pick Brent up as his car was in the shop being serviced. She made her way to his office, greeting some of his colleagues along the way. The short, curvy brunette was wearing tight blue jeans, a v neck white tshirt accentuating her medium sized natural breasts and black flats. Her Louis Vuitton bag hung off her arm as she walked.

A young footballer, unfamiliar to her bumped into her and she was snapped out of her train of thought. “Hey, watch it!” Grace yelled after his retreating form.

Jason Williams was the newest quarterback of the team. He was a bit unique though. Rather than going straight pro from his third year, he decided to finish his senior year with a degree in business. Though he didn't win the Heisman, he did have some national poise with his name recognition.

As he was walking down the hall to meet with some of the admin staff, he accidentally bumped into Grace while he was checking a message on his phone. "Oh, I'm so sorry," he said as he looked to see if she was alright. Having a strong build where he was toned helped him a bit. He looked her over with his blue eyes, his tall and firm frame making sure nothing was wrong. "Are you alright, Ma'am?" he asked in his Midwestern accent as he put his phone away in his khaki pocket.

It was hard to tell that just about half an hour ago he didn't have his brownish blonde hair as nice as it was. He was more concerned about getting into trouble or making enemies with the staff right before the season was going to start.

"Jason, right?" Eyeing him up and down, she willed herself not to blush. Brent's new quarterback epitomised all the men she'd dated in college. Tall, fit, and those blue eyes. How she loved blue eyes. Shaking herself from her thoughts, she spoke a little gentler this time, not having meant to snap at him. Not Jason anyway... Brent's new pick. The favourite of the team - and rumoured to be wanted by other teams.

"It's okay, I'm fine. Why the rush? I know you've not been here long, do you want me to show you where to go?" Checking the time on her gold watch quickly, she knew her husband wouldn't be out of his meeting yet. Adjusting her bag on her shoulder before smiling up at him, she let her inner ice queen thaw for a moment.

"You look like you just came from the showers," blushing at herself for realising that, and saying it aloud, she was overcome with the scent of his cologne and how he styled his hair before continuing. "I have some spare time before the boss finishes for the night. Do you need another tour?"

The problem that Jason was still not use to is that he was known by everyone, however, he didn't know everyone. "Yes, Ma'am," he said as he looked over Grace. "And you are...?" he asked while trying to still be polite.

Jason wasn't around when the owner and Grace introduced themselves to the new members of the team on the first day of practice. He knew that there was going to be a lot of running around during the first week, and this whole situation was valid proof of that. "I just got done with practice and I need to talk to HR before they leave for the day," Jason said as he thought about taking this woman up on her offer. She apparently acted as if she knew where everything was.

"Thank you for showing me around," he said as they began to walk towards where the offices were. It was only a week into practice and it already felt like his list that had to be done by the end of the week was extremely long.

Grace looked over the young footballer sympathetically. Knowing he’d missed the first day of training, she decided to take him under her wing. Extending her perfectly manicured hand, she took his hand in hers and gave a soft – yet firm – handshake.

“You don’t need to call me ‘Ma’am’”, she laughed. “Call me Grace!” Playing down her surname, she left her hand in the young quarterback’s a little too long, before remembering his words. Taking her hand from his and rubbing her hands together, her rings glinted under the fluorescent lights in the tunnels and she set off at a slightly relaxed pace towards the offices.

Leading him into what looked like a school office, she went into the back offices, leaving Jason behind. Emerging moments later with an older sandy blonde lady, she introduced the young footballer. “Jason, this is Lindy. She’s head of the Rams Human Resources department. She’ll look after you.” Squeezing Lindy’s arm, gently, she gave her an air kiss. “Give my best to Sam. I have to go find Brent, I hope he doesn’t work back again tonight,” Grace joked.

On her way out of the office, she dug through her bag and found an old business card that Brent had made for her as a joke. Writing her cell number on it in flowing cursive, she passed it to Jason. “Any troubles you have with the boss, or Lindy, you come to me, okay?” Giving him a reassuring smile, she walked up towards Brent’s office and knocked on his door before entering.

Jason returned the handshake as Grace identified herself. "It's nice to meet you too, Grace," he said. "I would appreciate it if you did show me where the offices are," he added as they started to make their way to them.

Once they got to the offices he waited as she went to go get Lindy. Again, he had to shake another hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Ma'am," he said as Grace started to walk away. He was a bit surprised that Graced stopped and pulled out a business card. He looked over at her as she wrote her number down and handed it to him. "Thank you very much, Grace," he said as she gave it to him, "I'll definitely do that."

As soon as Grace left, Jason looked at Lindy and gave a small smile. "Who is that, exactly?" he asked out of curiosity. Jason was extremely shocked as she mentioned Grace's relation to the Rams organization. Jason mentioned some questions and concerns that he had as they made their way to Lindy's office.

There was a lot of time that they spent in there going everything from policies and other issues to making sure other appointments were set up. By the time they were done, Jason was a bit surprised on how late it was. While he was still getting use to being on the new time zone he called for a cab to take him to his temporary residence. Jason was a bit conflicted about having Grace's number now that he knew who she was. He decided to keep it, just in case there was some unique question that she would be able to offer some insight on.

Jason ended up spending most of the time of his night going over paperwork and filling out forms before heading to bed. He figured he should get up a bit earlier the following morning to turn in some of the forms and to ease some of the burden before going to practice.

Grace was an early riser and this morning was no different. Post shower, she straightened her curls and slid on a pair of denim cutoffs, white Chucks and a Rams shirt. It was a practice day and she enjoyed watching the boys do their thing. Bounding down the stairs, she found Brent was at the kitchen table still eating his breakfast. Sitting with him and drinking a coffee, she picked at a Danish while they discussed the day’s events.

Their cook poured them to-go cups of coffee and Grace grabbed them both, thanking her. Picking up her bag and sliding a pair of black couture sunglasses over her hazel-brown eyes, Brent slung his arm around her shoulders and they walked out to her car. Jumping in to the driver’s seat, Grace gunned down the driveway as the electric gates opened automatically, before shifting gears and making the drive to the stadium.

The drive was short and Brent managed to ignore her by checking his emails the whole time. A practice she was used to, but it never really stopped hurting, Grace realised. Looking over at him before looking out the front windscreen, she sped to the stadium and took her usual spot in the employees’ carpark. Brent stepped out to go to his office and she wandered through the staff entrance with a coffee in hand to the field.

Taking her place in the front row of seats closest to the coach’s box, Grace stretched her short legs out on the cement barrier in front of her. Leaning back and pulling a Ralph Lauren cap in team colours out of her bag, she placed it on her head as she watched the players complete their exercises before playing a mock game. The sun beamed down, warming her skin and she almost dozed off. A couple players were sent off the field and substituted with benched players. That’s when she saw him again. Jason. Her heart started racing faster and she blushed. Knowing he was still new to the team, she decided to encourage him.

“Let’s go Rams! C’mon Williams, good hustle!” Screaming as loud as she could as she jumped up and down. The other players waved over at her, rolling their eyes and she laughed before taking a seat again, watching the field.

It was a warm morning when Jason woke up. He still wasn't accustomed to being on a different time zone yet, however, he was still an early riser. The other good thing was that while he was still a professional player now, his name was still common enough to not really raise too much notary, which he didn't mind at all in his hotel.

As he made his way down to the taxi he had called previously, he started to think about what area he wanted to move into. The plus side was getting to the stadium extremely early made sure he had time to go over some of the plays and drills for practice. After getting changed into his uniform, he managed to find his coach before practice and let him know he still needed to do things to be more settled in.

After a short discussion, his coach made sure he would be ending a few of his practices a bit earlier to make sure that he was settled in. During practice, Jason was on the bench looking over the plays and trying to figure out who each of the people were. There was no doubt that it was a bit more challenging than what people had previously though. Once it was his turn, he got up and proceeded onto the field.

As he was heading on, he heard Grace's voice start to cheer him on. He glanced over and gave a small wave before making all the way to the center of the huddle. It soon hit him that over the course of the next few weeks, a lot of people would hopefully be cheering him on like that. "Who is that?" he asked curiously, trying to play it cool before they started their play. He acted surprised as someone mentioned that it was the owners wife.

During the course of practice, there was a lot that Jason found out he had to work on just due to changed from not being in college anymore to being in the pros. When he finished for the day he went to the lockers, got cleaned up in the showers and headed back to where the office staff was. As he made his way there, he figured it wouldn't surprise him if he ran into Grace again since she knew that practice was over.

Grace had been pacing the hallways for a good 20 minutes after practice. She'd built up a light tan today, however denim shorts and a jersey weren't conducive to an even tan. Checking the time again, she'd gotten a little antsy waiting for Jason. Surely he couldn't be in the locker rooms still?

Before she'd begun wearing the cement floors out with her shoes, she'd been to see Brent. He had a sponsor with a local car dealer for the team and the new players were being gifted cars as part of their contracts. Knowing Jason was feeling a bit left behind, she decided to personally deliver his keys to him.

And here he was, finally! "Jason," she called out as he walked in the opposite direction to her. He must not have seen her? Waking quickly to keep up with him, she fell in stride with him, stopping him and placing her hand on his arm.

"I have a surprise for you. Come, follow me!" The key was shoved deep down her pocket so it wouldn't make any noise. Turning him around she kept chatting. "Now, I know you're new in LA and living in a hotel and taking a taxi everywhere isn't ideal, but I have something for you."

It was Grace's turn to walk fast now. The tall player would have had no trouble keeping up, she mused. They made their way into the players parking lot and she practically jogged to a shiny black Range Rover with a red ribbon on the front. Pulling the key that was warmed from her body, she passed it to Jason, allowing her hand to linger in his way too long. Her fingers were still clasped around the key as she held it in his hand.

Blushing she jumped and started showing him the features. "Mr Sherwood, er- Brent, makes sure all his players are safe, so you'll notice it has tinted windows. Something you'll need on game days. Um, GPS..." Forgetting everything else she'd been told, she handed him a letter with the car's registration details.

"Want to take her for a spin? I know some good places in Los Angeles. Actually, just a bit out. Interested?" Watching him curiously, she hoped he'd say yes. She was a little underdressed, but knowing Brent had meetings for the rest of the day, she had time to kill and she liked Jason. She just couldn't put her finger on why.

Jason took a few moments to reflect on today's practice as he was finishing getting cleaned up. There was no doubt that he was very proper and polite outside of the field. However, on the field was a different story. He knew that was a huge impact of his coverage in both high school and college, however, he wasn't sure how it would be viewed in the pro's.

Jason noted the time and finished getting ready. He headed out and made his way over to the offices, moving at a bit of a brisk pace. At the same time he was checking his phone for any messages. He figured he would wait until the end of the day before looking at social media to see if he was being mentioned. It wasn't until he heard the footsteps of Grace's shoes that he realized someone was trying to get his attention. He looked up and looked at her as he felt his arm being grabbed. "Oh, hi, Grace," he said with a little bit of surprise.

The next thing that Jason knew, he was being dragged away, in the opposite direction from where he was trying to go. At the same time, she was starting to talk, making it harder to point out he still wanted to see what paperwork needed to be done.

When they made it to the employee parking lot he was a bit surprised at their location. This was the owner's wife, of all things. The feeling was all too surreal for him. After she finished trying to give a detailed account of the Range Rover he looked at her and said, "thank you," as he felt them in his hands. He was wondering how much of an impact she might have had on Brent's decision to get the new players a car.

"I'm flattered, ma'am," he said as she asked about him taking it out for a spin. "However," he started to say, "I was hoping to see if there was still anything left to take care of as far as paperwork goes," Jason stated as he looked into her eyes. "Besides, I don't know where I'd be going," he added to make his case a bit stronger.

He figured that there might be a small chance to use her to his advantage, as far as getting time off to make sure things get done so he wouldn't have to worry about it so much after practice. "So, perhaps, maybe you should drive," he said as he handed the keys to her.

Grace smiled, accepting the keys. The glint in her eye twinkled mischievously and she knew she had no inention in bringing Jason back in time to finish his paper work. Unlocking the key and hoisting herself into the driver’s seat, she wound down the window and motioned him into the passenger side, smiling still.

“Don’t worry about your homework. Who do you need to see still? Leave it with me, I know everyone. Surely, your agent can’t be making you do all the legwork yourself?” Fiddling with the radio and blasting it loud, she started up the engine and let the cold air wash over her. When Jason took a seat in the car, she buckled up her belt and gave the accelerator a tap with her food. It wasn’t the Maserati, but was okay.

“Jason, babe, call me Grace. Ma’am is what everyone calls my mother in law. Let’s go. Hollywood is calling our name today.” And with that, she sped out of the parking lot and onto the freeway. The drive was a good half an hour and she spoke to him, trying to coax him into opening up to her. She was always chatty and bubbly, but never painfully so. She hoped!

From Downtown LA to Hollywood Boulevard, Grace pointed out landmarks and favourite eateries, no doubt confusing poor Jason. Hitting the ‘Walk of Fame’, traffic started stalling slowly. They were able to view the larger than life people dressed in character suits taking photos with hapless tourists. People lined the streets to place their hands and feet in the concrete autographs of the stars.

Seeing there’d be no chance in finding a park, Grace decided to follow a tour bus. Off the Boulevard, winding up through the Hollywood Hills and past Mulholland Drive, until finally they reached a clearing overlooking Hollywood. It was a bit garish and tacky, Grace mused, but she still loved it. Unless she was in New York. But this was home. Killing the engine, she stepped out of the car and stood at the front, motioning Jason over.

“What do you think of your new home?” The view sweeping across them gave a glimpse of the Hollywood sign, freeways intertwining with billboards and yet, just over the horizon, the beach and houses.

Jason got into the passenger side of the vehicle and took a seat as Grace started to drive. He let out a small chuckle when she mentioned his paperwork as homework. He thought about it for a second before responding to her question. "I still need to make sure my pay has been taken care of, some of the normal health insurance paperwork, I have to find a real place, unless I want to spend the whole season in a hotel," he said in a semi-playful tone.

He looked over at her as she started to drive out of the stadium. "Well, my agent was asking for a lot more than I was willing to pay him, so I had to let him go," he told Grace. Jason knew it was going to be very hard not having one, however, he knew the risks when he made that decision. "And I'll try not to call you ma'am," he said as he looked over at her.

Jason could tell that Grace knew her way around the area very well. He asked questions as far as where certain things were, such as famous landmarks. As they talked, he told her a little bit about himself, that he grew up in the Midwest, had several siblings. He also talked to her about different things such as kinds of movies and music he liked and so forth. After a few moments, he was surprised that they were heading out of the city.

Though he asked, there wasn't an answer at the time as to where they were going. It took a while before he saw the Hollywood sign. A few minutes after they got out of the city, he watched as Grace parked at the clearing and got out. Jason followed her lead and got out. It was definitely a sight to see. "So, what part of the city is a good place to live in?" he inquired as he moved closer to her. As the sun started to slowly set he realized that he probably wouldn't get his paperwork done today. He could feel that it was getting a bit cooler out, so he took off his jacket and placed it around her.

Jason looked over Grace, hoping she wasn't noticing as they continued to lean against the vehicle. He was wondering why she married Brent. He thought to himself that one of these days he might find out the answer. "I wouldn't mind this being home for a while," he pointed out. "I'm just hoping I'll be around for a few years to enjoy it without worrying about being traded," he added

“Traded? Why would Brent trade you when he fought so hard for you?” Grace looked at Jason curiously, noticing his eyes on her. She accepted his jacket and hugged it around herself tighter as the sun hid behind the smog, making the air feel cooler. Standing a little closer to Jason, she observed the city slowly change from day to dusk. On the horizon, the sun glittered on the ocean as the sky went pink.

Adjusting her feet on the sandy, rocky ground, Grace ended up a little close to Jason and accidentally hip checked him. Using the car to steady herself, Grace blushed and stepped forward, jingling the car key in her hand. “Goodness, is that the time? I think we should drive through some neighbourhoods before I take you back to your hotel. I know most of your colleagues live near the beach.”

Beginning the two hour drive via Calabasas, Grace name dropped a couple of the Rams players names and addresses, before they made the drive to the beaches – Manhattan, Hermosa and Marina Del Ray. Windows wound down, the balmy sea salt smell filled the car as they drove in the dark. Car lights were lit up around them like it was Christmas and she smiled, enjoying the traffic.

As they slowly wound back to the stadium, Grace leaned over and patted Jason’s hand. Her eyes were getting all bleary from being up since before the sun and she asked him in a semi-husky voice. “So, what do you think so far? I know it’s only night time, but I think that’s when LA is the most beautiful.” Pulling into the carpark, Grace parked and jumped out of the vehicle, leaving the key in the ignition as she ran to the back to open the rear door, pulling out a GPS and passing it to Jason.

“First thing tomorrow morning, hand all your paperwork to Brent’s assistant. I’ll let her know it’s on my instructions. Until then, have a lovely evening. I’ll see you around. And seriously, call me if there’s anything you need or want while living in a hotel. Maybe I’ll even check out where we put our players up before they settle in. Take care, Jason.” And with a smile, Grace made her way to her car before driving home, forgetting she was still wearing Jason’s jacket.

Jason leaned against the vehicle as he watched the sunset with Grace. He didn't even realize the drive was as long as it had been to get to this spot. "Well, everyone has a price," he said as she inquired about him being traded. "I mean, how much did your husband pay for me?" Jason asked looking at her, "it's just part of the game." Jason stretched out a bit before finishing his thoughts, "usually, from what I've seen, if you're a franchise name, it's hard to get traded."

Jason gave Grace a small smile as she mentioned driving to some of the other players houses. "Well, I'm looking for a place that's fairly private," he told her. "The last thing that I want is being in a place where the media or some other group can just walk up and try to get on my property," he mentioned in a normal tone. "Perhaps somewhere gated where the security people won't be difficult to work work when it comes to guests?" He watched as she drove to several different areas, admiring the view.

They continued to talk a little before making it back to the stadium. "I think it looks nice at night," he said in agreement. "Though, I'm not a huge fan of the traffic. Is it usually this bad?" he asked knowing she probably had a better idea than him. He watched as she got the GPS unit and handed it to him. "Thank you very much, Grace, I'll make sure I do that in the morning," he told her sincerely.

As he programmed his hotel into the GPS he checked to make sure that he had everything. That's when he realized that he didn't have his jacket anymore. He wasn't sure how far she lived so he figured he would wait until he got back to the hotel before sending her a text letting her know. The drive wasn't as bad as he expected, though it would take some use for him to get accustomed to this traffic. Once he got back, he informed the hotel of his new vehicle and headed back to his room. When he was in his room he pulled out his phone and started to text Grace. "Grace: You still have my coat from earlier. Can you please bring it back to me at your earliest convenience?" As soon as he looked over the message he sent it as he got ready for turning in for the night.

Grace pulled into the driveway of her house when her phone sounded out. Waiting until she’d parked, she checked the message and smiled, blushing a little. Whoops, this wasn’t her jacket. She read the text again and drafted a response a few times before deleting it. She emailed Brent's assistant to let her know of the paperwork from the new quarterback. Didn't want to surprise her.

Making her way into the house, Shelley opened the door and Grace gave her Jason's jacket. "You don't mind having this dry cleaned for me, do you?" The maid nodded and Grace dragged her tired ass upstairs. Collapsing into bed, she saw that it wasn't too late and she finally sent Jason a response. A smile covered her face as she sent the response.

Hi Jason, didn't take long for you to try and get me out of my clothes. Usually you'd have to buy me dinner. See you tomorrow ;)

And with that, the brunette placed her phone on the side table. Brent popped in to kiss her good night with one eye on a contract. She tried to engage him in some making out and a hug, but she was brushed aside as he pulled his phone from his pocket to ring someone. "Good night," she muttered, annoyed, as he left the room - and her.

A bell chime brought her back to earth. Oh! He responded!

Jason was getting ready for bed before he heard his phone go off. When he looked at the message and saw it was from Grace, he figured he should respond. Though he was a bit unclear as to what she meant by trying to get her out of her clothes. He typed back a quick response before deciding to call it a night.

? about the clothes. Thanks for showing me around today. Have a good night.

The good thing was that after tomorrow he would have a day off from practice. The downside, however, was he would still be looking for a place. He would also have to talk to a financial adviser. Perhaps Grace would have some recommendations on people or places to go. Outside of that, he didn't have too much planned for the weekend. He still wanted to keep a fairly low profile. He was still somewhat surprised that she was married to the owner.

Grace woke slowly the next morning as sun poured through the massive window in her room. Stretching, she yawned before looking at the time on her watch. 11am. Whoops. So much for being productive today. A long shower, followed by a leisurely lunch was the ticket and Grace felt rejuvenated. Dressing in a white lace dress with a cream and black jacket, she decided to go shopping. Picking up her keys by the front door, she noticed Jason’s jacket was cleaned and pressed, hanging on the handle to the coat closet. Grabbing it, she made her way to her car before gunning it down to the stadium on her way to the shops.

Sneaking into the locker room, Grace found the cubicle which had Williams illuminated in white lettering. Lingering for a moment, she thought of yesterday and how she couldn’t wait to see him again. Maybe tomorrow. She knew a realtor who could help him house hunt. Hanging his jacket in its plastic bag on a hook, Grace left as quietly as she’d arrived.

Hearing voices return up the tunnels and towards the showers, she walked quickly out to the carpark, noticing the new black Range Rover parked in front of a temporary sign that read ‘J. Williams’. He was part of the Rams family, she smiled as she got in her car and sped off, waving to the security team patrolling the drive.

Rodeo Drive didn’t wait for Grace Sherwood and she had a burning hole in her credit card.

Jason's day had been like every other day prior to him hanging out with Grace. He got up, got ready and headed to practice. He knew that there wasn't anything wrong with hanging out with Grace, however, he was worried if someone started some kind of rumor. He was a bit surprised when he didn't see her while he was on the field. "Well, she does have a life of her own," he said quietly to himself as practice continued.

It wasn't until after practice was finished up that he made his way back to the lockers and saw his suit jacket. He didn't know if Grace dropped it off herself or if she simply had someone bring it down from one of the offices. He shurgged as he opened the locker and put it away as he started to get changed. He pulled out his cell phone and sent a quick thank you text to Grace, letting her know he got his suit back.

After he finished getting changed he figured he would go get some dinner, than head back to his hotel. He was wondering if there would be time soon to meet with a realtor and see about finding a new place to live at.

During the time that he left and headed out to get some food he called a few of his former teammates from college and a few friends from school to get caught up. At the same time he was getting use to his new vehicle and started to enjoy not having to worry about a cab taking him to and from everywhere. A few hours later, he was back in his room getting everything ready for tomorrow and getting ready for bed at the same time.
