I simply don't understand. I think that for people not to have medical care is terrible. There should be some scheme of universal health care. Most first world countries have it. Not to have it is cruel. It's an entitlement of everyone.
What I'd like to see is a lot more doctors and specialists etc trained so that there will be genuine competition among health professionals. Most, in my country, had educations heavily subsidised by the tax payer. When they're trained they forget this and charge excessively. They are beyond challenge and it is a betrayal of the tax payer. Dentists here are so expensive that to have major work done it's a lot cheaper to have it done in India or Thailand. We can all handle the holiday too. A lot of people are doing this and the numbers are growing.
My crowns ( They're not a good thing to have- complete waste of money- though I had 5 not one person has yet addressed me as "Your Majesty",) are so well done that my new dentist asked whether I'd had them done overseas. Unfortunately, they were done here at enormous expense. Dentists love to say" Dear me," and as soon as they do I know they're horrendously expensive.
I think the greed, arrogance and sanctimony of health professionals will eventually result in most elective procedures being done overseas. There is every advantage to it for the patient and the health professionals here are most undeserving.
The only problem with universal health insurance is that the health professionals are involved. I think it's a lot cheaper to fly people who are sick to another country where they can be treated, with out it breaking their bank. It would be a lot cheaper,even with the flight paid for by the universal health insurance. It could be worth while for the insurer to have its own airline.
America is a strange country to me. In some areas Americans are simply brilliant- Technology, the space program, research, the motion picture industry, etc. In other areas America is disturbingly mean- health insurance, the death penalty and gun control. I find it so strange that Americans can lecture other countries about human rights when these continue in their country.
