Merkels announcement is a lockdown for the unvaccinated. It is recognition of the fact that when issues get bad enough, responsibilities trump rights.

That is the obvious weakness of the American system. America is a nation obsessed with individual rights and almost silent on responsibilities. It is the basic reason why most civilized nations consider "American Freedom" to be an institutionalized contradiction.
