so you know if you want to come down and visit me that you better take the metal out of your cunt lips.

seems like these idiots could spend time on something more important. 2 to 20 years, damn.

>
> The Associated Press - ATLANTA
>
> Genital piercings for women were banned by the Georgia House
Wednesday as lawmakers considered a bill outlining punishments for
female genital mutilation.
>
> The bill would make such mutilation punishable by two to 20 years
in prison. It makes no exception for people who give consent to have
the procedure performed on their daughters out of religious or
cultural custom.
>
> An amendment adopted without objection added "piercing" to the list
of things that may not be done to female genitals. Even adult women
would not be allowed to get the procedure. The bill eventually passed
160-0, with no debate.
>
> Amendment sponsor Rep. Bill Heath, R-Bremen, was slack-jawed when
told after the vote that some adults seek the piercings.
>
> "What? I've never seen such a thing," Heath said. "I, uh, I
wouldn't approve of anyone doing it. I don't think that's an
appropriate thing to be doing."
>
> The ban applies only to women, not men. The bill has already been
approved by the Senate but now must return to that chamber because of
the piercing amendment. Both chambers of the Legislature must agree
on a single version of a bill before it can go to the governor for
final approval.

But guys, you're still welcome to come on down and get a cock ring. At least until those idiots at the Legislature come to the realization that people actually do that.

...I hate georgia. I really do. Been living here my entire life; I always expected to see something like this. Makes my blood boil. *Sigh* Thats it. I'm moving when Iget out of college. LOL

what i find sickening is not that it's not allowed. There COULD be other reasons why it isn't (though i do doubt it). Tatoos were illegal in New York City for YEARS, but it was the result of unclean shops, so instead of police and inspect them, they just made them illegal alltogether.

Anyway, what I think is sick is that if your culture called for female circumcision you'd still be perfectly within the law to do so.

I do not believe that any law should be made about what a person does to thier own body, but what is done to another's body is another story.

But, I'm also fairly sure that in Georgia, anal and oral sex is still illegal too. So screw the religious right.

God... These assholes don't know just how sexy a clit ring really is... But I bet if they actually saw a woman with one, they'd be drooling all over the floor...

NCS... I think it's illegal in Georgia to own a vibrator too...

What close minded redneck fuckers...

I think politicians must live in a bubble the rest of us don't enter. I remember a TV documentary where our Prime Minister (Australia) was asked about his thoughts on breastfeeding. He indignantly and disgustedly declared, 'That sort of thing never went on in our house!!'

Catalina :rose:

Seems rather stupid to me. What's going to happen now? Are doctors going to have to report this if they see it, much like they have to do if they suspect cases of child abuse? If so, there are going to be a lot of young women who don't seek the medical attention they should because they've pierced their clit hood. I'm starting to think more and more that politicians are nothing more than ignorant bastards.

I honestly don't even know what to think about this. And did I read it right when it said it passes UNANIMOUSLY? *blink*

Wow...

My reaction is...

what are they going to do? Inspect every woman crossing the state border?

I keep having these visions of all these girls and women who want a piercing and can't afford to travel...so they do it on their own, or with a friend's help...or get it done by some back alley quack...infections, mispiercing, damage...

but then again...i might be over imagining things ;)

Now,see that almost sounds like fun...

This world is just more and more tightly restricted.I want to be able to pierce what I like.Who's body is this anyway?Well,His... but ultimately mine.Just because something isn't your bag why keep it from being mine??Not that I'm going to be looking to get pierced anywhere near there...but just to be a pain...what's say we all hop a greyhound bus...meet up on the steps on the Georgia state supreme court and have us a piercing party?
I know somebody that would love to do it at cost:p

Gosh in Texas it is just illegal to have a life like dildo!

I can't stop laughing about this........

The same Senate that passed this bill has stripped an ammendment from a House Education Bill that would give my kids a 15 minute recess every day because passing it would be interfering too much in the decisions of the local school boards.

Someone - quite a few someone's - need to rethink their definition of too much interference in things that shouldn't concern them.

I have volunteered to be a pussy inspector on the I-85 SC/GA line. It is a purely random thing, so if you aren't attractive you have nothing to fear.

 At least I know that I'll be safe when we go visit Holly's brother next time - but I'll be watching you when you 'inspect' Holly, so watch yourself ;) :p

Seriously, these people need to get a life & realize that people are gonna do it no matter & they had better keep it in the realms where it is regulated to prevent infections & stuff. I find it appalling that people feel the need to poke their noses in other people's sex lives.

Being an European I have eyed the conversation around some of the US laws with a difficult mixture of amusement and horror. I'm not an expert when it comes to American laws, but I have had the impression that they are meant, among other things, to provide everyone with the same rights. I know this rarely comes to reality in courts and such, but it makes me wonder why piercing just women's genitalia is outlawed. Seems as redicilous as banning sex toys, oral or anal sex, "different" sexual behavior and some sex positions. How on Earth are they going to supervise these things?

If you find a genital piercing, what in good heavens will you do?

Good intentions, sloppily written

I hate to poke a hole in the universal cries of righteous indignation here, but since the law was drafted to prevent female genital mutilation, and the fairly befuddled Georgia lawmakers simply did not ever consider that there was a "good" way to pierce female genetalia, isn't it a little premature to become outraged? Presumably we all applaud the actual intent of the bill, which is to prevent young girls from having their clit clipped off in some barbaric leftover tribal custom. Right?

How come we don't call circumsicion male genetal mutilation?
I do not agree with coersion of an individual by others to do any body modification they do not want, but if a freestanding sane person desires to have any part of their own genitals cut, pierced, split or whatever, it should be their choice. They are not harming any living being or even a potentially living being by doing such.

Did you know that one of those "barbaric leftover tribal custom" is to cut off the hood above the clit but so that a woman can actually increase her pleasure and sensitivity?

I think if you're a lawmaker you should undderstand what you are signing and voting upon. If perhaps they are just a little "befuddled", than no i'm not just outraged they signed, i'm outraged that they are even in office.

BTW:
1) I'm thinking ofgetting a triangle piercing (that would be my second genital mod) whoo hoo!

2) Welcome to lit! I promis they're not all assholes like i am.

I actually did know that, but in most places, what is called "female circumcision" is removal of the clit, not the hood - removal of the hood is the equivalent of removing the foreskin on a male which I and most others have no trouble with; removal of the clit is the equivalent of removing the head of the penis ... that is why it is objected to (and I'm sure that if a culture was removing the head of the penises of little boys, everone would be outraged about that too - I sure as hell would be).

The thing that I find so appalling from the way the law is written is that an adult (who, in theory, is the only one who can be pierced anyway - some states the age limit is 18, some it's 21 unless they have a guardian with them... I don't know if any are as low as 16, but I can't imagine anything lower than that), can no longer make certain decisions about her own body.

for the most part female circumsicion is removal of the inner labia not clit nor clit hood. BUT I do understand that come cultures do this and i do agree that if someone is pushed into doing this, it is appaling and grotesque.

I also agree with your second paragraph as well though. I do believe it should still be legal because i do know people that have had modifications done to the sensitive part of their gentials as well as the other parts down there. A subincision/meatomy is a cut made in the penis head... I'm sure if a clit was larger and that was possible women would be trying it too... I just think that an adult should be able to choose what they want done with their own bodies.

I just can't get past the thought of that being a question asked of a country leader on a documetary...what the heck? LOL

"So, Mr. President, what are your thoughts on breastfeeding?"

:D

Not quite true. There are three commonly known forms of female circumcision. They are:

Sunna circumcision in which the tip of the clitoris and/or its covering (prepuce) are removed.

Clitoridectomy where the entire clitoris, the prepuce and adjacent labia are removed.

Infibulation (a.k.a. Pharaonic circumcision) which is a clitoridectomy followed by sewing up of the vulva. A small opening is left to allow urine and menstrual blood to pass. 1 A second operation is done later in life to reverse some of the damage. In some cultures, the woman is cut open by her husband on their wedding night with a double edged dagger. She may be sewn up again if her husband leaves on a long trip.

The two most common are Clitoridectomy and Infibulation, although more countries are bowing to the Sunna circumcision. Doctors in the US are beginning to simply cut into the clitoral hood as a symbolic gesture.

This is in reference to Sunna circumcision? Actually, the tip of the clitoris is removed, along with the hood. The resultant scarring inhibits sexual pleasure.

There was a doctor here in So Cal who called himself the "love doctor" who would, during operations on his patients, remove the clitoral hood without their consent or knowledge. His premise? This would expose the clitoris and increase their pleasure. He believed his patients should be happy and pleased. In reality, woman experienced too much pleasure - so much so they could not wear clothing such as panties, bathing suits, or pants. Simply walking was agonizing. The "too much pleasure can equal pain" theory applied. The women sued, the doctor lost his license and was prosecuted. Unfortunately, once lost, the clitoral hood can never be replaced. These women stated that, instead of sex being highly pleasurable, it was highly painful and uncomfortable.
