So Geoff Bezos treats his employees like wage slaves (Amazon warehouse workers are minimum-wage earners and monitored by the minute).
Yet he paid zero taxes under Trump, and he is now going to Mars on his employees taxes, (aka "subsidized by the government").

Also: minimum wage workers are treated with disdain by Republicans ("too bad they didn't get education or training, their labor is unworthy they should work 2 jobs")
yet their taxes are being used to finance proxy wars, bailouts &
by Trump & who paid 800 dollars in taxes year.

I've read a lot about him in the news, and Republican never comes up.

Also please keep in mind when you bandy about the term "slave..."

The Democrats were the party of the South and the republicans were the party of Lincoln.

PS - Republicans do not treat people with distain (other than the Left)
and, unlike you, are well aware of what a minimum wage is - an entry-level wage.

The higher you make it, the harder it is for emerging entrants to find a job...

(If you pay attention to the politics board, it is the Democrats
who deal in name-calling, hate and other aspersions;
they are the party of lockstep orthodoxy.)

PPS - I'll wager you that as soon as the easily offended see this,
(i.e., our Leftist members) this will be moved to the politics board.

Heyyyyyy, nice to see you up here, thanks for commenting.

As you well know, my thread wasn't intended as an attack on base republicans (like the ones on the board you belisarius & whom I deeply respect).
It was meant as an attack on the Republicans who are occupying the top 1% positions. It takes an antisocial to rise to the top.

Yes, minimum wage was initially intended as an entry level position, but now half of blue collar workers earn close to minimum wage because 'capitalism" (corporatism and neofeudalism, actually) eviscerated better paying jobs.

I'm not a Republican. Our two major parties are Twiddledee and Twiddledum
demanding in Jerry Mcguire fashion: SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!

I belong to the party that only has less to offer and more of it.

Brush up on taxes etc. All of the methods that Amazon used to reduce their tax obligation were in place long before Trump was elected and they're still in place today. So running around bleating "Trump" just starts moving your needle lower on the IQ scale.

And our minimum wage "problem" is illegal immigration under-bidding
actual American Blue Collar workers (especially minorities).

With the type of open borders that, for example, President Biden is allowing,
the average American worker, on the blue-collar level simply cannot compete.

We need to go to the verification system and fine and jail all employers,
big or small, that employ the illegal aliens, who will happily work for less.
In this manner, the American worker will be competitive.

Case in point:

"President Joe Biden’s deputies have invited representatives of illegal migrants to the Independence Day celebration at the White House, marking another effort to blur critical distinctions between Americans and foreigners."

https://www.breitbart.com/economy/2...al-migrants-at-the-white-house-on-the-fourth/

“Folks, you know, its dreams of immigrants like you that built America and continue to inject new energy, new vitality, new — a new strength,” Biden told the immigrants during a June 2 event at the White House. “We’ve seen that most clearly during this pandemic, with immigrants as frontline workers and as scientists and researchers on the frontlines of finding vaccines.”

“Immigration has always been essential to America,” he insisted.

The casual insults of Americans and their children as inadequate are commonplace in the capital city of Americans’ homeland, which is often described as a “nation of immigrants” by pro-migration businesses and political groups.

(That's also a toast to the illegals as far as the Left is concerned...)

As I haz sed be4, a national sales tax takes the legality of anyone out of the equation? So, if you buy new stuff, you pay taxes. Buy used stuff from a store and pay taxes. Buy from the Amish and don't pay taxes.

Wait, we already have that, so . . . .

Another danger to the idea of a "living" minimum wage is that
it is a great incentive for companies to employ automation.

This leads to calls for a universal wage from those who champion a high minimum wage.
They think that the thing pays for itself because people spend their universal wage.
They never, ever factor in the predictable and resultant specter of inflation.

:(

With the FairTax the poor get a break because it is not applied to used goods (or basic foods).

So I was listening to some old revolutionary songs from the sixties, and then I thought, wait, they're in charge now, and things suck at least as badly as ever before.

I guess they aged badly, too.

Why am I the only one who doesn't???

:D

tee hee

The beautiful people sold out just as soon as they became "the establishment."

Caesar was going to fix the republic . . .

until he became dicktaster for life . . . .

:D

In all fairness, he probably saved Rome from the Republic's collapse (which was floundering under the triumvirate).

Their idea of "fixing things" is roughly akin to using a sledge hammer to repair a wrist watch. There are no simple solutions in a complex society.

No no no no no, hammering and other such mundane things are for the Little People. Their jobs are Thinking Great Thoughts.

And then telling some Little Person to fix the Timex with an Estwing.

They are hammering out a warning all over the land, they are giving us a warning, they are danger...

The biggest problem is economic ignorance. Just knowing simple shit like the difference between gross income and net income or the difference between gross profit and net profit. Or even the difference between income and wealth.

All of that is the difference between the wealthy and those that bitch about the wealthy.

They also can't seem to figure out that no matter how much the government soaks the rich it isn't going to make a dimes worth of difference in their lives and in all probability will make their lives worse.
