My wife and I decided we just had to tr GeoCaching today. We chose two from a nice list of them. One was right down the street from us while the other was several miles North of us.

We hit the one closest to us and looked around for a while. Nothing doing, we couldn't find it. (We will return to this one again.)

The second one was a bit more interesting. It had us parking our car in a community that advertise it's houses starting at one Mill. From there it was a nice hike through a briar filled field and across a busy set of train tracks to the area of the cache. The person who put this one in place was slick. It took us over an hour of looking to find it. (He had it six feet up in the fork of a tree. It would have been easier to find if a palm frond hadn't fallen and lodged on top of it.)

In other words we had a blast.

Anyone else out there done this?

Haven't tried it, but I've wanted to. Sounds like a lot of fun. :D

I've not heard of it. Hide and seek with a GPS locater?

ETA: I looked it up. sounds like fun. Was it one that you take something and leave something, or just the logbook?

Jomar,

This one was just the Log Book, which is what made it harder to find. The person who hid it had it in a six inch long, one inch diameter PVC Tube up in the fork of a tree.

And yes it was fun. We intend to do more of it.

Kind of makes me want to get one. Wish I'd been on Lit a couple of years ago when I vacationed in West Palm Beach - would've been fun to meet up - not to worry if I get that way again, I have good medical coverage. :D

Oh it is fun, and gets you out and moving. We hiked for several hours total through some interesting areas.

LOLOLOL

Are you saying I live on the edge? :D

A basic G.P.S. can go for under $100.00 (That's all you really need.)

As for Caches, there are probably plenty of them around your area. (I was amazed to find over 20 within five miles of where I live.)

Between searches my wife and I feasted on Steak and Cheese Subs. (Shaved Steak fried with Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Ground Plack Pepper, as well as Provolone and Swiss Cheeses.)

Dinner on the other hand was Chicken Wings marinated with Kickin Chicken Seasoning and then slow grilled with Mesquite Smoke. (Served with Bisquites and Cajun Seasoned grilled Corn.)

I haven't done it, but I researched it and used it in my novel :D I'll try it for real one day.

I have! I have!!

I actually wanted to go in the morning, but the landlord is coming over to take care of some problemswith the house.

My husband and I are geocachers. Loads of fun, a good way to get out and about. We've hidden a few caches, sent several travel bugs around the world, collected a few geocoins. We actually have a cache in our front yard. Our dog is a "cache", too. He has a tag on his colar that is an actual trackable travel bug. :D

We like it a bit much, yes. ;)

*jumps up and down hand raised*

The hubby and i did in the states some. I had a blast, plus some were hidden in some nature areas so we just went ahead and had other fun as well;)

On one I got a prize of a large box of jumbo crayons and another $5 :D We've left everything from money to cd's and hand warmers in the middle of the winter.

We hope to find some near us hear in the UK this summer and get back into it.

eBay has tons of stuff for geocachers, if anyone is interested. You can usually get pretty good deals on cool geocoins and other gear like interesting containers in which to hide your caches.

Also, a lot of more urban areas have geocaching clubs. Ours meets once a month just for the heck of it. Sometimes there are events like "Cache In, Trash Out", where you find caches all while picking up litter.
