I thought the forum piece was posited as sarcasm and not toward the kid but rather at the situation and manner in which she found herself in.

She's traveled around the world and made it there in protest only to be treated with a flight back home. No one wrestled her to the ground, ziptied her arms, and then beat her in the process.

She was treated like a princess, and the OP poked fun at that. My thinking, anyway. It got her out of harm's way and another headline.
