Genetic ancestry tests.

It's mostly BS after about the 6th or 7th generation back. Record keeping for the average schmuck was so poor, if not non-existent, prior to about 200-220 years ago.

I am supposedly a descendant of Gaius Julius Caesar. Hard for me to believe the crap they tell you. I think they do it just so you will keep digging deeper.

I suppose depending on your beliefs and religious affiliations, one could easily claim to be from the blood of Adam & Eve.

Through King Henry II I am supposed to be descended from:

Caesar and Cleopatra. Caesar claimed (although his contemporaries didn't believe him) to be descended from the Roman goddess Venus. (Contemporary Romans believed that Pompey WAS a descendant of Venus but not Caesar). Cleopatra claimed descent from the Greek Goddess Aphrodite, and Isis and Osiris. Henry II (and all the Plantagenet Kings) was a Wodinga - claiming descent from the Norse God Woden (or Odin).

Almost all white (or semi-white people) are supposed to have originated form just seven women living in early stone age Europe. My blood group and other factors shows that I have some neanderthal genes. Some of my office colleagues, and my opponents on the rugby pitch thought I was 100% neanderthal.

That's interesting because the Colonies were way inland. Chihuahua area near the Sierra Madres, South of El Paso. You wouldn't think they would be seafarers.

I vaguely remember pro-European blue-eyed South Anericans as well. It could be adaptation. I have heard that blue eyes gather light better and are an adaptation for shorter days. The flip side is brown offer better UV protection in the tropics

Fishermen are necessarily seafarers. At that time they were just men who wanted a big payday and didn't mind working hard for it. If they were smart, they'd make the money last a while.
