If you could have been a general in a battle or a general directing a battle,which battle and why?.

Me first:

Friedrich Von Paulus at Stalingrad leading the 6th German army was encircled.
I would have broken out of the trap.This is not clever hind sight,he knew he was encircled and as a general if he didn't have the guts to take the obvious remedy should have stayed a corporal.
