Todd is my real name. The pics in my sig line are pics of the real me. I don't have tattos to hide. I don't say something about me that is untrue unless it is in a joke format, which I hope most people will see that I am joking.

Not always, Todd.

What when I make a joke people don't always understand? yeah very true, I have to go and explain it most of the time

What's the message in this thread? Was it edited out?

Besides I prefer specific hypocrisy to general.

The General Board, aka the OTHER On-line Role Play, had a thread going about how tackey and low-class tattoos are. Although I do not -yet- have a tatoo myself, I disagree with this mindset. But the part of the thread which got me thinking (and annoyed), was where people were posting that if people are so proud of their tatoos why do they often hide them. The thread asserted that the fact that one would feel the need to hide, to conceal, one's tattoo should prove how shamful and disgraceful tattoos are. (And I know I am just paraphrasing, not using absolute quotations.) This is where my Hypocrisy Detector went off. Aren't we posting and/or publishing under names which conceal our real identities? Does that mean what we are doing here is shameful and tackey? (Well, in some cases... )

Hmmmmmmm....

I don't see anything wrong with the post before it was edited. I wonder why it was deleted.

Well, as Todd addressed of his name, GuyJD is my real name. I have nothing to hide and therefore, have no problem addressing any issues with my real identity.

Yeah, in this society frequenting a porn site isn't something most people will openly admit to. I think the reasons are obvious. THey may not be right, but they are there just the same. I hide behind a pseudonym because my career as an elementary school teacher would be in jeopardy if it was generally known that I wrote a story about women getting taken by force. That's prudence, not hypocrisy.

post

I deleted it because on second thought I thought it sounded more snide than I'd intended. My point is:

How can a group of people who are concealing their identies (though there is NOTHING wrong with this, it being part of the fun as well as prudent), make the assertion that people who are hiding their tatoos (though there is NOTHING wrong with this, it being part of the fun as well as prudent), are doing so because their tattoos are disgusting and low-class???

That's an interesting question. We all hide parts of our lives from other parts for various reasons. Would you be ashamed to be caught visiting Lit? Would you be more ashamed in the presence of some loved ones than others? Would you not care, and tell them to take a hike? Do you consider visiting this site and 'reading' the stories to be 'dirty'? If anti-porn legislation (anti-adult porn, of course - kiddie porn is a no-brainer) came up, would you support it, even though you spend time here? Do you have a tattoo?

Great questions Laurel.....

Sure, I'd be mortified if my grandmother found out I hung out here. I don't want to know about my parents or grandparent's sex lives, and I'm certain they don't want to know about mine. My brother did find out, and we're fine with it. It depends on the person.

I don't think that reading or writing the stories here is "dirty," however, it's not something I go around telling everyone because of the ramifications to me and my family.

I'd be against anti-porn legislation. I believe adults have a right to sexual content in all its guises, and that it actually plays a healthy part in society. God knows how deep a rut my sex life would fall into without it.

I do not have a tattoo. But I have a rather capitvating beauty mark on my mound.
