The General Board, aka the OTHER On-line Role Play, had a thread going about how tackey and low-class tattoos are. Although I do not -yet- have a tatoo myself, I disagree with this mindset. But the part of the thread which got me thinking (and annoyed), was where people were posting that if people are so proud of their tatoos why do they often hide them. The thread asserted that the fact that one would feel the need to hide, to conceal, one's tattoo should prove how shamful and disgraceful tattoos are. (And I know I am just paraphrasing, not using absolute quotations.) This is where my Hypocrisy Detector went off. Aren't we posting and/or publishing under names which conceal our real identities? Does that mean what we are doing here is shameful and tackey? (Well, in some cases... )

How can a group of people who are concealing their identies (though there is NOTHING wrong with this, it being part of the fun as well as prudent), make the assertion that people who are hiding their tatoos (though there is NOTHING wrong with this, it being part of the fun as well as prudent), are doing so because their tattoos are disgusting and low-class???
