Hi. I have only just started writing on here and have just finished my first story.

I was just wondering who the main audience was for these stories were? Are they mostly guys? Seems like, but I might be wrong and obviously I want to factor this in for future stories.

Anyway, any opinion on this and advice on how you wonderful writers approach/consider this would be great.

Thanks!

In a reader set and product offering as large and wide as Lit's there's no "main audience." There also is no way to get a handle on "the reader." The reader is permitted to be invisible here.

So, just write what you want, as long as it's within the submissions guidelines, and enjoy whatever audience you get.

I think the reader base is large enough that you're assured of an audience whether you write for men or women. You have to get pretty niche before you'll find a topic people don't care to read...

Hi, Joker, and welcome to Literotica and the Authors' Hangout. :)

There are tens of millions of readers, and they are located all over the world. I personally believe there are more men than women, but there are enough of both genders that there will be no shortage of readers.

I would advise, though, that you avoid the Loving Wives category for a while, because the readers will want to flay you alive. Readers of Incest are not as bad, but there are many of them who believe the stories they like to read are about evil people and, therefore, must be written by evil people who need to be castigated.

Based on what I know (which is not much within the scheme of things, or even without) the readership of Gay male is predominately female, mostly straight but with a scattering of lesbians who find the lesbian erotica sadly perverted by the men who write them.

I don't write in many other categories, but I have fans of my straight stories both male and female.

Yes, most readers have a gender. :D Sorry, it is one of those up too early silly mornings.

Welcome to Lit and the AH.

Years ago, someone ran the numbers on the register people on lit and the numbers indicated, Male, older, and straight. Of the unregistered, who knows. Take your best shot and see where the chips fly.

Write in a lot of categories and see where your strengths and weaknesses lie. It sometimes ain't what you think. Develop a style you like because you have to write it.

Other than that, have fun.

Thanks for your opinions guys. I'll just carry on what I'm doing then ;-)

Please have a look if you can at what I've written thus far and any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I'm primarily interested in exhibition and group sex stories.

Provide a link in your signature line and some of us will. :)

A link to my stories is now in my signature. I am aware that the first two parts are a bit short and the chapters don't really fit Literotica usual style. Ch.3 should be published in the next day or two and is a lot longer and concludes the story.

I have just started working on a new story containing the same characters that follows on from this and is a lot bigger in scope. It will be called Educating Charlie

Before estragon sucks in on this again, note that syks is a scammer trying to get you to click on the link. What's posted here was lifted from an earlier, legitimate posting.

The forum appears to be under attack (if you haven't noticed). Take a second look at any posting with a very low number of posts.

If you have spybot installed and up to date you won't see the links. They are on the blocked list there and in firefox in most cases.

I haven't seen a link yet.

All I see of the link is a red x in a small box. But there are other indicators something other than a legitimate post is happening. (In this case, lifting a sentence from one of your posts was a dead giveaway.)
