I tried to read it, I really did-- but I ended up skimming, eyes glazed.

I found it rather meh, I'm afraid. There's a certain literary device that I find far more annoying than "it was all a dream": author wants to preach their own philosophy, but instead of just writing it as a non-fiction essay they package it in fiction and insert it into the mouth of a character who's been established as wise by authorial fiat.
