*Coffeespew*

You are so baaaaaad, S. :)

I'm in total lust with Aragon. Sweat, armor, swords...I mean what isn't there to like?;)

Movies: Legolas, he kicks multiple ass

Books: Gandalf (the one in my mind is cooler than Ian McKellan will ever be)

YAY You! Exactly what I say. Legolas ROCKED in the movie... and he's gonna rock even more... and Gandalf ruled... he kicks so much ass in the books, and he was way cool in the movies.

For part 2 im waiting to see if the Legolas/Gimli thing develops properly. if the Riders of Rohan are as cool as I imagined.

Ahh, a true fan. Yes... I can't wait to see the contest. and the Battle of Helm Deep... and OHHH!!! OHHH!!! The Ents... I want to see the Ents!.

They took out Tom Bombadil and Goldenberry.... which sucked, but they were not necessary in the movie...

Without Tom Bombadill the only question in the movie is "where did the hobbits get them swords?" but true, that is a part that could easily be cut for time

Helm's Deep... omg... cannot wait.

Saw the trailer before Die Another Day last week..... four words for yhe guys sat next to me

Oh. My. Fucking. God. :D

I'm going far afield with this one perhaps, but my favorite LotR character was always Samwise Gamgee.

He surpassed every ability he had for no other reason than he would not abandon his best friend. He kept his sense of wonder even in places where doom and peril abounded. He grew throughout the books into his potential character.

And he lived happily ever after.

Hehehe...it looks sooo good! I was terrified when i heard they were making these movies... I was glad they were making them all at the same time though. What scared me was... either they were all going to be absolutely great, or dreadfully horrible... I heart Peter Jackson.

and I agree... and you're not alone. I know some people who liked Sam the most. He did grow the most, and he had loyalty unto death.

You just had to get all deep and meaningful on us, didnt you :D

Respect

I think i liked Gandalf because... he's old and wise, and I mean really old (flick through the Silmarillion and you'll know what i mean). As Gandalf the grey, he's got so much power and potential hidden away just beneath the surface. You barely glimpse his potential in the first book, and when he fights the Balrog you start to realise just what a being this Gandalf is.

And when he reappears he's one of the most powerful beings in the world, a singing star on the ground, powerful, charismatic, wise and the saviour of mankind, pretty much. Just to be in his presence would be an awesome experience, glowing and crackling with hidden energy.

Wow. Which is why i like him :D

Oops! Sorry 'bout that.

One of the scenes from the books, though, that always gave me chillbumps was the point where Sam weilding only Frodo's elven blade charges into the Dark Tower all by himself after Frodo.

Samwise rocks. :)

But a close second place goes to Treebeard! Hoom Hom!!

Legolas has a nice ass in the movie....

but otherwise I gotta go with Samwise Gamgee too.. or Sarumon.. they were both pretty cool

Has everyone forgotten Merry and Pippin, they were pretty cool too, remind me of disturbing family members

Sam was always my favorite, especially from the end of the first book on. An everyman, forced into an awful situation by loyalty and duty. Without him, the Ring would have definitely fallen into Sauron's hands.

Plus, he cracks me up.

Movies: Aragorn *swoon* or legolas *bigger swoon*

Books: Gandalf. He kicked some major ass. I liked Treebeard, too, though. He was kinda cool.

Go back and read my first post on this thread.

That was a great show....

Dante: i think you need to add a spoiler warning to your post :)

i think gandolf is my favorite book character and legolas is my favorite movie character.

as a side note, liv tyler pisses me off. i don't like her as gimil.

I'm watching the extended DVD movie... and one of the things that bothered me in the movie was that there was very little singing. in the Book, singing is a big part of the Hobbit way of life. The Extended version beefs that up nicely

... Plus... you get to see Gandalf go all wicked on Boromir when he tries to take the ring during the Council of Elrond
