Is there any way to simply get pics transfered from my phone (moto RAZR V3i) to my pc?

I bought some software, and it worked for a minute, then stopped. Contacted the company, and they said, "we don't support that phone through your carrier." I couldn't see what my carrier had to do with it since it's done directly from phone to pc through a USB cord, but hey, it's their software.

Still have a USB cord, but....?

help?

I take it it's not the Motorola data link and software but a third party. Try re-installing the software and unplug the phone while installing. Then plug the phone in and try again.

Sorry I can't be of any further assitance.

Thanks, Zeb...tried that, and it does basically the same thing: works for a minute, then quits.

I was hoping maybe someone knew of a free or demo software I could download that might do the trick.

I wouldn't mind buying different software, I just want to make sure it works first - especially at $30 - $40 a pop.

Have you looked for patches to the software on the vendors web site? Those are free to download and install. ;)

ETA: Also if you have Limewire or one of the other search engines that look for kinds of software loaded on other peoples machines try using it to find the Motorola software.

Yep. I've been 'round and 'round with them about it for the last couple of weeks. Their last email just said, "Take it back where you got it and get your money back."

*sigh*

Your carrier determines the exact software package on your phone, as they add software that locks you on to their network and into buying their accessories. So it's possible the phone to PC connection is one of the things altered by this software.

One possibility would be, can your phone just email the pictures to your PC? Don't know if that would work for you, but would probably be the easiest.

Another possibility would be getting your phone unlocked, where someone goes in and removes the proprietary software, returning the phone to factory specs. I had mine unlocked and it's great, because I can switch carriers just by getting a new SIM card if prices change or I travel somewhere my network doesn't cover very well. Cost is usually around 10-20 bucks, plus shipping your phone if you can't find someone to do it locally.

Otherwise, you'll probably have to contact your carrier and see what they sell for phone to PC connections and buy their software package.

Hope this helps.

Oh well...such is life and the world of computers. Some companies don't just care about their customers.

Phone's not set up right for email, and they're not real helpful at the office, unfortunately. I think most of the folks they hire are just grunt-types. I asked about the email thing, and they said "call motorola." Motorola says, "call your carrier."

And....I got the software that doesn't work from them.

I wouldn't mind sending the phone off to unlock it, but it's the only phone I have - no land line. With kids, a phone isn't a luxury.

Then they should be one to talk to about the software not working, if they sold it.

Maybe it's time to change carriers.

I thought about it, but I have an amazingly good deal - $39.99 a mo. with unlimited minutes, and free long distance.

Let me guess...US Cellular?

Corr Wireless. It's a local carrier, small company.

That explains it then. Small startup companies with a limited scope always seem to be lackadaisical in their handling of customers.

True, but zero overtime charges, and low monthly cost are definitely a priority for me. ;)

Yep, know the feeling...I'll soon have to get rid of my 59.95 a month line with 9,850 rollover minutes accumulate, free mobile to mobile and free weekend and after 7 pm minutes.

We don't have a land line, tho, so the cell is the only phone I have.
