For any who are interested:

Gaylaxicon 2006 is being held in Toronto, Ontario from June 16th to the 18.

Gaylaxicon is the annual international gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender & friends Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror, and Gaming Convention.

There's some interesting topics listed on the panel list ... a little something for everyone. Quite a few topics include erotica and Speculative Fiction.

ya know, here I am just a few hours from toronto, and i'm gonna miss out on this (and all the bajillion other glbt cons) when i leave for the summer.

those panels actually look really sweet though. i hope someone here attends and tells us (or me anyway) how it went.

Didn't even know there was such a thing as a GLBT si fi convention! we need one of them in london, would be interesting to go to.

Count me in ! Last year, the boys of Delta Lambda Phi took me there and we had fun !

Haha, neither did I, but it seems like a cool idea to me. Seems like a good way to get more into the GLBT scene without having to be completely out of my depth.

Not that i've ever been to a scifi convention before... :D

A GLBT SF convention? Isn't that redundant? Most of the people I have known who have really been into science fiction have been more than a little friendly to the GLBT side of the force.

I would've thought it would be in Montreal.

Why?

Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver ... those would be the three likliest Canadian cities for the convention. I agree that Montreal may be more of a liberal or party town, but Toronto is larger and probably better known to the Americans who would attend.

I'll let you know how it goes.

I was not looking forward to being dragged there at first. But some of the panels look interesting and there will be lots of opportunities to buy more books ... :D

And I have made it quite clear to my partner that if I see any GLBT "furries"* there, I'm going up to the room, barring the door and not coming back out till the convention is over.

*Damn CSI for exposing me to things that I never needed to know about.

Because it's French Canadian, and you know how the French are.
