Gay Vampires

I dont read gay theme stories. But I came upon one last night that's almost excellent. HUMAN REMAINS by Clive Barker.

The story in a nutshell: Gay hooker is picked up by an archaeologist for sex. Later, the hooker senses that someone is stalking him. Organized crime and a Roman gladiator are stalking him. The thugs beat up the hooker, the gladiator hacks the thugs. The thugs retaliate, etc. Of course, its hard to kill something that isnt alive and rejuvenates with a frothy pitcher of fresh blood.

The Vampire concept is obviously about sex. No reason why it should be about just one aspect of sex. You want GM vampire erotica, I've got that here (including a whole serialized novel).

I dont read many female writers, but a few are terrific, and I buy whatever they publish. Ann Rice isnt on my list of champions.

I'm now half-way thru a book about why normal people murder.

I used to play White Wolf Games roleplaying game Vampire: The Masquerade and I really liked their take on vampires. In order to accommodate as many different approaches to vampirism as the players could bring they had subsects called Clans. Thirteen different clans. The Toreador vampires were the hedonistic artistes and were most drawn to sexual contact. Other than that, all the rest of the vampires were monsters, albeit at different levels of humanity. I like the idea of a separation between human and vampire, and a big part of that separation is keeping the sex out of a vampires list of desires.

I think that is my biggest problem with the entire vampire genre and characters as a whole. Vampire porn seems to be the biggest, and almost only, outlet for vampire stories. Then again, there's a reason for that. Give the people what they want, I guess. Just not my thing.

Now werewolves... they can fuck like crazy.
