Gay marriage in Greece...

Man..I really want to believe that society isn't just a bunch of retards but things aren't looking up for that..
You may have heard(though I doubt it was that much of a scoop at the news)
in Greece the first gay marriages were held some days ago.
It was all good, they had checked every aspect of the laws if it is prohibited and such, but the law doesn't say anything about gender as far as marriage is concerned.
It says something along the lines:"Two persons can be...blah blah.."
And that same day a procurator(?man I really don't know these kind of words in english.I hope I got it right..) said that the marriages were invalid and against the law and the mayor that allowed them would be sent to justice..

The decision of the courts hasn't been made. what IS there to decide? >_>
I'm starting to really hate homophobes... Some people even STILL think gays and lesbians have psychological problems.. I mean..what the fuck?..
I can't deal with people who say these ignorant things.
And what's worse, my parents are of the same opinion about the marriage.(I have already come out to them) :\\
I wonder if it's like this everywhere?..

We def. feel ur pain, Curious! It's pretty amazing that the laws do not scribe to a man and a woman!
Why do they want to keep this from us?
I no longer feel like a minority because of my sexual orientation. I know many that are...have great friends that I can talk to everyday. But even though there are so many of "us"..."they" still have the power.

Anyway, it is a good thing because one side only gets so vocal about something when they are losing and know it. It is only a matter of time before anybody can marry anybody, I don't think there will be man and goat marriages, well probably not more than the one.

Keep in mind, Christianity is not the first religion, it was not until something like the 1500's they started saying man and wife in marriage. Before that it was about bringing these two before god and twining them together in holy matrimony.

Before that, it was all about staying with the one you like, man and man, woman and woman, man man and woman, so on so forth. There were certain groups, that beleive in all women were free game for all men sexually, men could intersex, women could intersex and nobody cared.

We're coming back to that, well maybe not the everyone could screw everyone else part but the whatever makes you happy part. May not happen to us, but our grandkids probably will be able to marry whomever they want with not many saying hey what the fuck.

Why is it that the Greeks are complaining about gay marriage, when they have a long history of widely practiced and accepted homosexuality, both men (Gymnasiums and pederasty) and women (the poet Sappho and the isle of Lesbos)?

I still get miffed when on our local paper forums, if anything comes out about gay marriage, you either get slammed by religious fanatics, hypo-str8 men who think gays should all be wiped off the face of the earth, or quasi-intellectuals who say the whole thing is selfish because we also aren't fighting for the rights of polygamists and incest partners who just want their love to be accepted. As I see it, one doesn't have to take on every fight and not doing so doesn't make you a bad or selfish person. Plus, I think the bottom line on gay marriage is that IF marriage is being destroyed by gays, then, they need to specify in law what exactly the rules are for the "real" marriages which have to involve opposite sex members. If you have to have babies, if the man must provide and the woman must stay at home. Then they need to specify these rules in to law. In the US, they should simply "save" their precious marriage by rejecting marriage certificates if they cannot or will not produce offspring. They should nullify weddings that involve people who have been married before. We need to make this "real" marriage thing not just exclude gays, but anybody who isn't the perfect ideal couple.
