I don't think gays care one bit about so-called "straight acceptance".

They're looking for government neutrality on things like marriage and such.

The federal government has done an admirable job on things like free speech (on the whole), and they're making progress on stuff like women's sufferage, blacks and whites being allowed to marry and now gays given essentially the same option.

We're getting there.
