the school is very strict about kids out of class during lessons, and the child—who actually loved the art classes—would go to the bathroom whenever he felt like without first asking permission. The teacher wasn't personally bothered, but had to adhere to the school's permission policies so called in the kid's parents to discuss the issue. The parents 'seemed fine' at first, but noticed his photo of himself and his husband on his desk. When they asked about it, he told them, never having had a problem with this before.
After that, the parents contacted the school demanding he be removed for 'inappropriate behaviour in the classroom' and that kids shouldn't be exposed to his 'disgusting life style'. The school backed the teacher, but that meant the kid, who had begged his parents to be allowed to attend a regular school, was excluded from the art classes he enjoyed so much.

fucking. stupid. parents.

If that kid turns out to be gay, it's gonna be an awkward conversation with his shitty parents. 😒

I have found that there are usually 2 wrongs in every controversy. Yours is that you support intolerance by those who you've been socialized into accepting while decrying intolerance from those who oppose your personal views.

So the end of your post should in fact read:

fucking. stupid. people.

They will sue because the teacher obviously got to their kid

Question? How many molesters are straight vs 🏳️‍🌈 (I think there’s a new letter. Does flag work? LGBTQA… )
Bet cha… most present as straight or plenty of the straight ones molest girls

But hey! Let’s make those who are different the scapegoats just like ohhhhh? SATIN!! (Reread as “The Church Lady”… and realize Hitler already covered this history. Oh, but we can’t teach that!!)

What did the teacher do wrong?

He doesn't live a "lifestyle" Arpy approves of.
Seeking happiness in unapproved manner !
Not prescribing to the Holy way?
Doing things behind doors that they love thinking about, but can’t admit??

In mr.multi-screenname's view, the teacher was "Wrong" simply by virtue of being gay- and teaching kids.

That is how bigots think.

"How DARE you be intolerant of MY intolerance !?!"
HisArpy trots out the classic paradox of tolerance.

From Wikipedia
The paradox of tolerance states that if a society is tolerant without limit, its ability to be tolerant is eventually seized or destroyed by the intolerant. Karl Popper described it as the seemingly self-contradictory idea that in order to maintain a tolerant society, the society must retain the right to be intolerant of intolerance.

I've been thinking about how sad this story is. The child probably enjoyed the art class as a bright refuge from what sounds like a miserable home life. The teacher was forced by an inflexible policy to engage with the awful parents and inadvertently triggered the child's exclusion from an activity he loved.

Years from now the parents will probably wonder why their child is alienated from them. Brick by brick they built their own wall.

and the pity is that they probably truly believe in their actions, having been fed it culturally, by news media they trust that lies to them, and smirking politicians lining their own feather beds with the donations from people like them.

education, education, education

Not just news media. We really need to stop thinking of media as narrowly as we often do. Until very, very recently it was rare or unheard of to have members of the LGBT seen in a positive or even neutral way. Similar things happen with race, religion, the military? What is G.I. Joe but a "Get em young" advertisement?

The problem with home schooling, is that the kids end up as stupid as the parents schooling them.
The problem is they have no social skills. They can't function in the real world in most cases. Sad...because under the right situations...home schooling could have great advantages. It just is that's the exception...

What did the teacher do wrong?

Did I say that the teacher did anything "wrong"?

The only "wrong" here is that you assume that the PARENTS did something "wrong."

For the parents to choose to be against public displays of alternate lifestyles is their right. They also have the right to speak out against it. And to prevent their children from being exposed to it.

The teacher has a right to feel included in society and as part of that inclusion they can have pictures of their family and loved ones on their desk.

So there is no "wrong" here anywhere. Or at least there wasn't until butterfat decided to heftily weigh in where she shouldn't. And then you jumped on board after deciding to misinterpret all kinds of facts, mostly because you prefer to not acknowledge your own biases and hatreds, and reach a conclusion that someone somewhere did something improper when that just ain't so.

Less hate and less noise usually leads to more understanding and a quieter life for everyone.

There is no assumption...they did. They put THEIR BELIEFS in front of their child's best welfare. But kids have no rights in a Right Wing World

Excuse me?

First of all, I NEVER SAID anyone did anything "wrong." Which was the point I was responding to.

Secondly, they're the parents of the child. That means that their parental rights trump whatever BULLSHIT you want to believe otherwise. Parents get to make the choices which guide their children. Parents get to decide what values to teach to their children.

When the child reaches adulthood, THEN the child can decide for themselves what they want to believe in. Until then, THE LAW gives parents the power and the RIGHT to make those choices for them.

YOU don't get a say in that. YOU never will have a say in any of that.

Believing that you can, is where you and the rest of the progressive idjits fuck up. This ain't your call.

There is no such thing as "public displays of lifestyle" in this case, unless having a picture of your family is considered displaying your lifestyle. I'm assuming that a straight teacher would also be dismissed for having a picture of his or her wife or husband on their desk.

This is the problem with the law as written and is the reason it should be challenged in courts.

Projection. Nothing more, nothing less, just projection.

A parent gets to decide what their child does.

In the case mentioned, they are deciding what the teacher does. (Not the child)
