Gas snowblower versus electric snow thrower?

I need to buy a snow blower, only I don't want a gasoline one and have to deal with the maintenance and the storage of it.

I was wondering if anyone had experience with an electric snow thrower. Toro has a new one out for around $300 that is good for clearing a sidewalk and a small driveway. They are a step up from an electric shovel, which sells for around $100 and supposed to be better than Snow Joe.

Does anyone own one of these things, I think it's called the Toro Powercurve 1800? Amazon sells is with free shipping. Of course, I'd have to spring for a 100' extension cord. Only, using electricity in the snow doesn't sound too safe to me (lol).

We had a Toro that worked well for quite a few years. It was only a mid size, rated for 6" but could handle 8" if you really wanted it to, and were willing to clean out packed snow from around the blades when you messed up with it (getting into tall drifts above the blades).

I don't have direct experience with the small electric blower but by reputation it's perfectly suitable for light snow covering smallish areas. If you get one, don't be afraid of using an extension cord. As long as the plug ends are firmly mated you won't have any issues. Take note of all the outdoor lighting displays on lawns around you: those aren't being run on batteries and not many people have electrical outlets in the middle of their front lawns.

Also, if you decide on getting the little buzzer, plan on clearing your walk and driveway a couple times per snowfall if the prediction is for more than four or five inches of accumulation. Your blower will be much more efficient and effective on smaller amounts of snow.

Depends on how much you need to clear and what your common type of snow is.
Mostly powder snow and a walkway - you'd do OK with the electric.
Wet snow and a full driveway? Get a gas.

I've got nothing constructive to add, but I just gotta say that it cracks me up that you are asking for snow "blower" advice on a porn story site! :D

No kidding. I had to edit my post twice to keep it mostly clean and instructive.

I've seen some diverse threads. I thought it would be a good idea to ask those who are really hot about something really cold (lol). Thanks for the help to all who answered.

It is funny, but I totally understand. You get fanatics on some specific sites and asking here is like Litpinions. I almost asked about roof shingles. I have asked about XP vs vista and got good answers.

Maybe we should have a Litpinions forum - sex toys to power tools. :)

Anyway, I usually go for electric for the same reasons you do, PositiveThinker. It might simply depend on where you live and how deep the snow gets on average.

I go back and forth on a chain saw. I'd prefer electric, but around here you usually need them when the power's out.
