Federal and state taxpayers provided $1.5 billion in funding to abortion providers over a three-year period, says a new report released by the watchdog agency Government Accountability Office (GAO).

The report, which was requested by 120 members of Congress led by Reps. Diane Black (R-TN), Pete Olson (R-TX) and Chris Smith (R-NJ), and Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA), shows that, between 2013 and 2015, taxpayers sent $1.5 billion to abortion providers Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), and Marie Stopes International (MSI). GAO found that these three organizations spent $410 million in federal funding between 2013 and 2015, and received $1.2 billion combined federal and state funds under federal health programs that require shared funding.

Slanted reporting.

Yes, those orgs DO provide abortion services, BUT taxpayer money cannot be used for such services by Fed Law. The article is chock full of the religious right meme rather than facts and omits the facts that contradict their "beliefs".

But waddya expect, it's Breitbart.

Care to guess how many abortions 45 had paid for from all of his extra marital affairs?

If that is true then we should ask how much it would have cost if those babies had been born and put into foster care. What kind of numbers would that equate to?

I think I just read somewhere that the cost is almost $250k per child to raise them now.

$1.5 billion? What a waste of taxpayers money when there's so many altruistic, Christian Americans lining up to adopt these little ones.

Exactly. The Hyde Amendment was necessary. The rest of these attacks on Planned Parenthood, etc., are way over the top.

On the face of it, you are exactly right, but money if fungible. Where I live, they sold gambling as a way to give schools extra funding. Well the gambling revenues, on paper, do go to the schools, but it never became additive because the same amount of funding was withdrawn from the school funding formula and put into other areas of the budget. I expect that Planned Parenthood is playing the same game. I will leave this for people to think about, but I'm not going to stay around for the discussion, because this is one of the sacraments of Progressivism and they will react like Puritans in hunt of witches to burn. I'd advise most people to stay away from this thread.

Measuring life by cost? I wonder, were you a real big fan of President Obama and Obamacare? Just put granny on opioids? Think about it. That's all I can ask at this point on this topic.

Well, with the Trump administration's funding abstinence only sex ed to the tune of $277 million, that won't be a need anymore.

We all know how well abstinence only sex ed works, just looks at Sarah P.....oh, wait, never mind.
