One of America's most enduring Revolutionary symbols has been deemed politically offensive by local lawmakers, so it is no longer allowed to fly over the city's vacant armory building in New Rochelle.
But, back in the day it was worthy enough to fly at mainmast as the personal standard of the flagship of the very first Commodore of America's brand-new Navy, Esek Hopkins; the Navy, indeed, was established by the Commander-in-Chief of all Continental Forces, General George Washington.
The reason given for the Gadsden no longer being allowed to fly freely over New Rochelle is that it's been used as a symbol by the TEA Party and, evidently, enough of the New Rochelle City Council find that fact, and thus the flag, "divisive"...
...so, if the next time progressives get politically together and wield Old Glory above or before them, will some conservative City Council order the removal of the Stripes and Stars for being "divisive", too?
Of course not, because that would be absolutely ridiculous...
...speaking of which: don't forget that Big Sis has tagged individual liberty-loving Americans who hold the Gadsden dear potential domestic threats.
[Waiting for the friggin' USSA to come up with its own flag...]
