FYI: xbook.ch is back up

Although .ch is Switzerland. .cn is China.

I'm not sure that Lit is banned in China. Other sites with similar stuff that I belong to have Chinese members.

The previous iteration of this site was in Chinese (for all I could tell). It used to have Asian porn on it as well. If you wouldn't call it Chinese, it definitely looked like it was targeted towards Chinese demographic.

You're right, it seems Whois doesn't have a clue about the .ch domain.

I did find this, but it not the person who owns the domain...

This place explicitly says they don't give any information about who ones the site.

That's a German address and phone number belonging to a webhosting company,. There's a good chance they'll take action if you contact them and let them know one of their clients is using their servers/services to commit large-scale copyright infringement.

the weird thing is - i did not see any ads or anything on the pages.
what is the business plan??

1) Steal Underpants
2) ?
3) profit

They do say that, but they also say by special request they will provide info. One of the conditions of that is copyright or other infringement by one of their registered sites. The links are there to submit a request for their consideration.

Unfortunately, it looks like the registrar & host simply don't give a crap that they're breaking the law.

Thank you for your enquiry.

Please note that we do not intervene in third party disputes.
Should your copyright be disregarded by one of our clients, please contact them directly or file a criminal complaint with the police.

With kind regards

I sent an email just now too. At the very least I get to harass them for a good reason.

The site is using Cloudflare, so I filed a DMCA takedown through them as well. They have accepted it and passed it on to the hosting provider that netcup were refusing to pass anything on to.

The actual host for the site is Hetzner, so you might want to file any takedowns with them, and they tend to be fairly responsive to abuse.

Well, as long as he starts sending me my 80% royalties when he decides to start charging I'll be fine with them sitting out there, as they all have Literotica as the site where they are originally posted. :D

I did find this on the Hetzner site...

It also looks like he/they pull every story from the new list, even author events.

It also looks as if he/they isn't finished with the site as he has a place holder for comments, and he/they tell you to login and join the conversation at the end of a story, yet they don't have a place to register as a user.

I was going to leave a nasty little message but I can't.

And are we sure this isn't a lit backup site? Probably not, but this site has a the entire story, not just a first page, so he has a pretty sophisticated bot crawling the site for things.

It seems that stories that are longer than 8 lit pages are cut off so whoever it is is only copies a story up to a certain length.

It seemed I didn't check any of my longer stories... you're right. It's actually 9 Lit Reader pages though, in the beta reader. But that still is pretty good for a bot crawler, yet falls short if they are looking for capturing all of the story.

Or their database isn't using a raw format data item for the text. Or a data item in the bot crawler isn't able to store more than 35,000 characters.

It's also a very slow website.

A kind of "final" update on this.

Hetzner, the server host: Acknowledges it's a pirate site. But they won't take action without a court order from the German courts. (Which the DMCA exists so that you don't need...)

Cloudflare, the CDN: Acknowledges that it's a pirate site. But they won't be withdrawing their services unless Hetzner do or they receive a court order.

NetCup, the Domain Registrar: Acknowledges it's a pirate site. But they won't take action without a court order from the German courts. (Which the DMCA exists so that you don't need...)

DENIC, the Registrar Authority: Acknowledges that NetCup have failed in their obligations as a registrar. But they won't take action with a court order from the German courts.

German Police: Acknowledges it's a pirate site. But won't be issuing an order unless someone with German Citizenship makes the request.

Turns out, the DMCA is only useful if you're a huge corp, in which case you'll abuse it. If you're not a huge corp, everyone will ignore it's requirements.

I'm not a German citizen but I do live in Germany. So I tried doing an Online request for Polizei Baden Württemberg to intervene. Let's hope something comes out of it.

So Germany is even worse than the US at keeping pirates at bay. As long as everyone is making money they don't give a shit.

Not only are my copyright statements still present (I've always put one right at the start of every submission), but they've preserved links to Literotica that are in my preface and endnotes where I link to some of my other Literotica stories and my biography . But they did chop off the ending of at least one story.

. . .

All that, and $3, will get me a mega-size Slurpee at an Australian 7-Eleven (they've cut the prices).

This actually seems like a smart way to tag your story as "yours." I'm going to borrow this concept. A couple of years ago, I embedded an announcement of sorts in the body of my story - something along the lines of "This original work of fiction originally appeared on Literotica.com - if found elsewhere, it's been stolen." I don't remember which story or how I worded it.

Also, providing links inside your author notes to the rest of your library feels like a big brain move, too!

The host, Hetzner, have now very kindly asked the pirate not to be a pirate. And given the site my contact details, without giving me any of theirs.
