This reminds me of Elanor Wachte'sl interview with Martha Ackmann where Martha commented to the effect that Emily Dickinson was hesitant to publish her poetry because then it was frozen.

Thank you too, sir. I agree with Emily Dickinson once published your poems have flown the coop. That's the joy of this site, poems get aired but can still be revised.
