i got an email through asstr from someone called lisa from a site called funsexstories.com asking for permission to use my stories. i checked out the site and let's just say it looked super sketchy to me. it looks like it's more weird articles with random links about lube and other nonsense than stories, but i replied to the email anyway because i'm paranoid and i wanted to make it clear that i was paying attention just in case. besides, they might have been legit despite all evidence to the contrary and i really wouldn't mind a few more reads here and there just for kicks.

anyway, i really did not expect a reply until i got one today two days after they first contacted me. now they're trying to tell me they're going to sell them if i agree to let them. they go on to say that if i do and they make money i MIGHT too.

now, i'm not a moron and the might part of that really didn't please me. honestly, i'm not inclined to respond positively to their request at this point. still, i figured i might as well see if any of you people have any experience with this "lisa", this funsexstories site and TT publishing just for the hell of it.

yep. that about covers it. yeah, that's not the best post ever, but i'm fucking brain dead right now thanks to insomnia and other nonsense. anyway... feedback? opinions? snark? if you need anymore info i can c&p the email. it is not at all personal in any way. in fact, it looks like a form email this lisa person c&ped herself because the font changes after the first few lines.

I received the same one a week ago. At first I thought maybe it was legit, simply because they were asking. Let's face it, all they really need to do is lift your story and never tell you.

The site gave my computer a bit of a hassle and it looks like a catch all porn site, that wants to have a story section. I didn't bother replying, but have been checking the site every couple of days to see if they took the stuff anyway.

As many threads have pointed out here. The net is one big grocery store and posting for free here, will lead to your shit ending up everywhere.

true. if they wanted to steal them they could have.

TT publishing's site really doesn't thrill me. it's basically just a contact form and nothing more. http://9tt.org/

It also means nothing that they are a "publisher" I just set myself up as a dba with a tax id number for free. So by rights I could easily set up a site and offer to sell your work for a cut.

There are a few that do this on smashwords. They put your book up under either their or your name and will buy your story out right or work something out with the royalties.

If they're set up as an LLC it at least shows some serious intent as last time I paid for that it was a thousand+ a year and that was several years ago.

In the e-market anyone can play publisher.

That link is as Mickey Mouse as you can get. It could even be a scam to get your routing number so they can "pay" you.

I would stay clear.

LOL I just got one too.

The very funny thing is they're offering a generous 20% (wow!) "commission" on what they publish.

1) It's called a royalty. They don't even know the difference between a commission and royalties. JFC.

2) I get 70% royalties already from Kindle.

3) The website for TT Publishing is pretty much just a landing page that refers to the contact email with no other information.

4) I design better covers in my sleep, thankyouverymuch, and use custom artwork rather than stock photos.

5) Everything else.

I got an "offer" from them as well a few days back. It sounded like a scam and the website does not look much better. In the FAQs it says you lose the copyright of your story and you get paid every 6 months but only when you hit the 1000$ mark in that period, otherwise it wil carry over to the next 6 months and so on.

I don't know anything about publishing or how these things are normally done but I'm sure it's not like this.

Yeah, looks like they are back, I got a message from a "Manfred" from there asking about my stories.

I am not sure if they are legit or not....

The fact they ask rather than just steal is a point in their favor, but yeah that six month thing and if you don't hit 1k it rolls over?

Many here can tell you it can take a long time to earn a thousand dollars especially with a small royalty.

I can't see that anyone thinks my stories are worth stealing. I am desolated.

How come I never get these kind of emails?

Oh, wait, maybe I should check my spam folders.
