Funerals

After hopefully outliving all my enemies, I want to be cremated and have me ashes scattered at sea. That way any enemies that have outlasted me will have a hard time dancing on my grave.:D

On a more serious note.
Last year I had the misfortune of being the victim of an attempted carjacking.
I was injured in the incident and the lady that was with me was killed.
This forcibly brought home the fact of my own mortality.
When I recovered from my injuries and the subsequent surgeries I went to a local funeral home and arranged a cremation package. I acquired the paperwork to have the Navy scatter the ashes at sea. I also made sure that my daughter knows where the papers are kept and also the details of the cremation etc.
I also made sure that she got a copy of my last will and testament and that she knows where the other copies of the will are.
When my father died I found his will, but most of his other papers were missing including his life insurance policy. It took months to straighten everything out.
Hopefully my daughter won't have as hard a time when I pass on.

When my 10 yr old nephew died of sudden illness we had the whole shebang, viewing, open coffin at the funeral ect. I must honestly say that we needed it. At most funerals I choose not to view the body. I would rather remember them the way they were especially grandparents. With my nephew I needed to see and touch and tell him I loved him one last time. Losing him was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life (I was 21).

I think it is important for the family to be able to help plan the service.

With a terminal illness, what else is there to do but wait? It gave us something to do my brother's last month, choosing pictures, planning songs, organizing matters - just doing something was very helpful.

We stayed true to his wishes as best as we could. But keeping busy with the planning was necessary for our sanity.

Personally, I want to lay in the morgue, unclaimed for about a month so I stink really bad then driven slowly though the most exclusive, high mucky muck neighborhoods in town in an open convertable during the dinner hour.

I really hate those bastards

We could get Liar to drive since he has the gas mask :D

Yep. Made plans that I have already spoke about. I'm donating my body to the Genesis Project.

It NOT like donating your body to a med school. Your remains are treated with the utmost respect. All procedures are documented and then presented (along with your cremated remains) to the person you designate.

All costs for transportation of your remains are paid by the organization. The also pay for filing the death certificate and also donate a cash sum to the charity of your choosing or for flowers at your memorial.

It's a great program.

Here's a link.

I had made arrangements for me cremated remains to be sent to friend and for them to be mixed with compost and used in flower beds so the something beautiful from my death could grow. She also wanted to used me in her vegetable garden. However, Grace has requested that she get my remains....so I got to change some arrangements.

I'll donate my body to medicine.

I want my funeral to be next to a small river, in a forest. I want pictures of me to be burned and their ashes scattered in the Pacific. And I want Apocalyptica's Nothing Else Matters to be played as the ashes join the wind.

And I want no pink at my funeral.

Yes, I have plans which I've shared with my family.

1. Make sure I'm really dead and feel free to take anything usable from the corpse.

2. Throw the rest in a ditch somewhere.

3. Take the money you would have spent on a funeral and have a really great party.

"2. Throw the rest in a ditch somewhere."
Don't even think about it! When the local scumbags around here find a body/part of a body dumped in a ditch, they go into hyperdrive and begin harrassing certain members of the community, despite the lack of a single shred of evidence.

My will states: cremation. My ashes are then to be thrown into the face(s) of the desk personnel at the soonest IRS office.

My organs are to be donated except my eyes (insane reason but there is a reason.) I then want to be cremated and ashes scattered somewhere that I love. If they must have a viewing then do a small gathering before the cremation. And then a party.

Barring that I would find it highly amusing if they mixed my ashes in with the cake and served me at the party;) Better yet bake it in an ass shape and then everyone can have a piece of my ass *snickers*
