I love the Full Metal Panic anime series. One of the best mech series out there really. I wonder if this might attract attention from others that like the series as well? Here are some information about characters and mechs. All characters except Gauron and Melissa Mao is 18 years old. In the series they are younger but i will follow lit's rules as all do :)

MISSION OVERVIEW

Black Technology. A forbidden knowledge born into a select few, thereby made capable of producing exotic weaponry that could drastically alter the balance of power on Earth. To halt the proliferation of this terrifying power, a secret military organization armed with the latest cutting-edge technology—MITHRIL, stands as the guardians of peace in a chaotic era still dominated by the hostilities of the ongoing Cold War.

With the unexpected arrival of mysterious transfer student Sousuke Sagara to Jindai High School, honor student Kaname Chidori's tranquil existence is about to be turned upside down. Unbeknownst to Chidori, the naïve, military-minded Sagara is actually an operative with MITHRIL assigned to protect her, and the potent secrets she unknowingly carries, from those who wish to exploit her knowledge for military gain. With neither teachers, classmates nor sculptures being safe from Sousuke’s vigilant defense of Kaname Chidori, will this strong-willed beauty even survive Sousuke’s “protection” long enough to actually need the help of this strange young man when trouble finally does arrive?

MITHRIL DOSSIER

Kaname Chidori http://www.full-metal-panic.com/image.php?file=images/recon/characters/chidori/chidori01.jpg

The beautiful Kaname Chidori is your average not-so-average high school girl. Her life is nearly perfect- she's smart, a class representative and the Vice President of the Student Council (the position of President, incidentally, being occupied by the cunning Atsunobu Hayashimizu), and she has reached an advanced stage of physical development. The only thing that she's missing from her ordinary life is the thrill of teenage romance.
With the arrival of a strange new transfer student with a penchant for weapons and warfare, her unluckiness in love may be coming to an end. It is believed that Kaname may be a Whispered, and it’s Sousuke’s duty to ensure that no one tries to abduct her for use as a test subject in the study of black technology—a revolutionary knowledge only the Whispered can access via genetic memories they’ve had since birth.

Kaname endures the stress of having an apparent military fanboy as a stalker as best as she can, but despite her annoyances with his outlandish behavior, could Kaname actually be developing feelings for this over-protective lunatic?

Sousuke Sagara http://www.full-metal-panic.com/image.php?file=images/recon/characters/sousuke/sousuke01.jpg

An operative serving under the auspices of the covert counter-terrorist and intelligence group known as MITHRIL, teenager Sousuke Sagara is anything but your ordinary career soldier. Having fought since childhood as a guerilla fighter against the Soviets in Afghanistan and as a mercenary in war zones around the globe, Sagara is no stranger to the battlefield. The classroom, however, is an entirely different story...
Dispatched to Tokyo with Sgt. Kurz Weber and Sgt. Maj. Melissa Mao, Sousuke must infiltrate Jindai High School as a transfer student in order to protect the beautiful Kaname Chidori from being kidnapped by rogue elements of the KGB or any other malicious group that would dare attempt it. Having been a soldier since he was a child, Sousuke’s social development has been stunted... dramatically. So Sousuke’s attempt at blending in with his fellow teenage students tends to produce some rather comical results.

From knocking over library bookcases to storming the girls' locker room and throwing grenades, Kaname is convinced that this trouble-causing military freak and apparent stalker is there to make her life a living hell. But will his over-protective and downright excessive behavior pay off and vindicate himself in Kaname’s eyes?

Tessa Testarossa http://www.full-metal-panic.com/image.php?file=images/recon/characters/tessa/tessa01.jpg

The Captain and designer of the pride of Mithril’s forces, the assault submarine Tuatha de Danaan, Teletha “Tessa” Testarossa can be considered the other heroine of our story aside from Kaname Chidori. Tessa is an attractive, small-framed girl of 18 with platinum hair and large grey eyes. She was born on the American East Coast, to a family of strong European ancestry, and she traveled the world extensively as a child. Tessa also has an elder brother whom she idolized for his incredible intelligence, though this also leads to a feeling of inferiority in comparison to her brother that fuels her desire to overcome any challenge that she faces.
Like Kaname and her elder brother, Tessa is a Whispered and showed prodigious talent even as a child. Her intellect and unrivalled knowledge helped her rise through the ranks of Mithril’s officer corps to take command of the de Danaan, despite her lack of combat experience. To compensate for this, Mithril provided her with two highly experienced officers, Andrey Kalinin and Richard Mardukas, to oversee and advise her on all military operations involving the de Danaan.

Although not very athletic, the adorable Captain is very popular with the crew of the de Danaan and her presence serves as a real morale booster. Though rumor has it that she may have a crush on a certain Sergeant...

Kurz Weber http://www.full-metal-panic.com/image.php?file=images/recon/characters/misc/kurz01.jpg

Kurz Weber is the third member of Mithril sent to protect Kaname Chidori from danger. He first encountered Sousuke at Mithril’s “mercenary school,” and they share the same rank of Sergeant. Expect to hear the rather humorous story of their first meeting to be told in later episodes of our story.
Kurz was born in Edogawa, Tokyo where he lived until he was 14. For this reason he speaks Japanese more fluently than Sousuke, who spent several years overseas. Kurz comes off as quite the playboy, and even while on duty will flirt playfully with Kaname and Kyouko (making Mao very angry).

In contrast to this, his more admirable qualities include sharpshooting skills so refined that he is able to hit a coin up to a kilometer away. Perhaps the most commendable of Kurz’s deeds is the very reason he joined Mithril. With his girlfriend bedridden with some form of illness, Kurz directs all of his pay into seeing that she gets the finest medical treatment available, which has put the poor playboy deep into debt. Fortunately, Mithril pays its soldiers very well.

Melissa Mao http://www.full-metal-panic.com/image.php?file=images/recon/characters/misc/mao01.jpg

Melissa Mao was dispatched, along with Sergeants Sousuke Sagara and Kurz Weber, to protect Kaname Chidori against the threat of being kidnapped by the KGB or any other nefarious group that would attempt it. As a Sergeant Major, this attractive 25-year-old outranks both Kurz and Sousuke, and comes off with an air of maturity about her that is not commonly found in those her age.
An American citizen, born in New York, to parents of Chinese ancestry, Melissa Mao served as a member of the United States Marine Corps, and after warranting a dishonorable discharge, her exceptional skills came to be highly coveted by Mithril where she later found employment as a member of SRT (Special Response Team).

Mao pilots the M9 Gernsback which, much like the character of Char in Mobile Suit Gundam, is customized with horns and other unique features to denote that this Arm Slave is hers and hers alone. She both drinks and smokes heavily; much to the ire of her close friend Captain Testarossa, and her favorite food is her beloved crab.

Gauron http://www.full-metal-panic.com/image.php?file=images/recon/characters/misc/gauron01.jpg

While little is known about Gauron at the present, he is Sousuke’s strongest and most formidable enemy throughout the TV series. He’s a terrorist of the highest caliber sponsored by a mysterious organization, but little is known about Gauron’s benefactors other than the fact that they appear to be more formidable and possess greater resources than even the notorious Soviet KGB.
Believed to be Japanese, or at least of Asian ethnicity, Gauron and Sousuke have a long and bloodstained history together. Sousuke left a big scar on Gauron’s forehead when he and then Soviet Spetsnaz commander Major Kalinin ambushed Gauron in a sniper attack back in Sousuke’s Afghan guerilla days. This is but one of many battle scars Sousuke inflicts upon this vicious manslayer over the course of the series.

A formidable AS pilot of tremendous talent, Gauron's dangerous Codarl AS has bested Mithril's frontline AS, the M9 Gernsback, in battle on several occasions. Even Sousuke and his ARX-7 Arbalest have great difficulty competing against Gauron's fearsome skill in their many confrontations across the course of the series.

MITHRIL DATAFILE

ARX-7 ARBALEST http://www.full-metal-panic.com/image.php?file=images/recon/mecha/arbalest/arbalest01.jpg

The prototype AS piloted by Sousuke under the auspices of MITHRIL. It is loaded with a black technology-based Lambda Driver, and judging from its external design is probably the successor to the M9 Gernsback. The Arbalest was created by the same person that designed the M9, Bunny Morauta, who was a “Whispered” engineer with MITHRIL.
The potential power that this Arm Slave has contained within its armored shell is simply unfathomable. Since the Arbalest was first piloted by Sousuke in episode 6, it refuses to recognize anyone other than him as its pilot. This experimental model still has numerous bugs to be worked out; for example, it is not yet certain whether the mecha's Lambda Driver is even fully operable or not.

A distinctive feature of the Arbalest is that its face resembles that of a ninja carrying a rolled-up scroll in its mouth.

M9 GERNSBACK http://www.full-metal-panic.com/image.php?file=images/recon/mecha/gernsback/gernsback01.jpg

The Gernsback is the primary weapon of Mithril, the anti-terrorist organization of which Sousuke is a member of. It represents the cutting edge of ultra smart technology and is unparalleled by any country in the world.
This bi-pedal weapons platform is capable of not only high maneuverability, but also, thanks to its ECS technology; it cannot be detected by any sensor or radar. It can also achieve optical invisibility and become undetectable to even the naked eye.

The Gernsback would not generally do anything as reckless as attempt to pummel a Soviet Mi-24 Hind attack helicopter with its bare hands, but as part of its specifications, it could if the pilot so desired.

PLAN-1056 CODARL http://www.full-metal-panic.com/image.php?file=images/recon/mecha/codarl/codarl01.jpg

This is the AS piloted by Gauron, distinctive for its long, ponytail-like extension at the base of its head unit. The Codarl is also loaded with a Lambda driver, the product of extensive research into black technology.
Because this AS is still in the testing stage, the unit tends not to operate as expected, even breaking down in the middle of battle. However, it’s no exaggeration to say that the Codarl is the most powerful AS yet developed. Its maneuverability is so fast that even Kurz, an elite marksman, has a tough time aiming at it. This mecha would appear to be the product of some as yet-unidentified organization that has declared war on Mithril.

Be sure to keep an eye out for when the Codarl returns, in a new form and even more powerful than before!

RK-92 SAVAGE http://www.full-metal-panic.com/image.php?file=images/recon/mecha/misc/savage01.jpg

The Rk-92 Savage is a second generation Soviet-made AS provided mainly to communist countries such as China and North Korea, as well as various guerilla organizations. In Episode 4 we saw that it had also cropped up as a tool of the autonomous Khanka dictatorship. Sousuke also often piloted this model during his time as a guerilla fighter in Afghanistan.
Though the Savage tends to be defeated rather soundly throughout the course of the series, its squat, froglike appearance makes it a favorite when compared to the other more robot-like mecha.

PLAN-1501 BEHEMOTH http://www.full-metal-panic.com/image.php?file=images/recon/mecha/misc/behemoth01.jpg

The colossal AS “Behemoth” is owned by the terrorist organization A21 and is piloted by Takuma Kugayama. This gigantic AS is nearly 40 meters in height, and if the Lambda Drivers are not activated upon startup, this massive AS would collapse under its own weight.
In spite of its large size, the Behemoth moves rather quickly. Its main weapons include a huge sword suitable for its body size, and a cluster of 30mm cannons mounted in the head.

There is not a lot of tactical data available about the Behemoth, and thus most of its secrets remain unknown.

TDD-1 TUATHA DE DANAAN

With a building cost in excess of several billion dollars, the flagship and pride of Mithril’s Pacific battle fleet, the Tuatha de Danaan (TDD-1), was specifically designed for the specialized tasks of conducting amphibious warfare and subsurface naval combat operations. Spanning a length in excess of 200 meters from bow to stern, the formidable Tuatha de Danaan serves as a mobile base of operations for Mithril to plan and conduct surgical strikes and combat operations against hostile targets such as enemy troop formations, manufacturing and training facilities. As well as halting the illegal exportation of drugs and weapons.
Designed by Mithril officer Teletha “Tessa” Testarossa, the ship’s young Captain and one of the Whispered, her unrivaled knowledge of the ship and its capabilities earned her the position as Captain of the vessel. Armed with a formidable arsenal of cruise missiles, torpedoes and other highly advanced weapons systems, not to mention a contingent of special operations troops, M9 Grensback Arm Slaves, transport aircraft and Super Harriers, this highly formidable warship is capable of rivaling the military might of any naval power on the planet—including the ships of the U.S. Navy, which has actively been pursuing the Toy Box, as the Tuatha de Danaan has been nicknamed.

I've seen the original series, the sequel spoof, and the first four eps. of the second series. I'd be interested in doing a story as I've found this series to be one of the most entertaining to watch I've seen in a long time.

I DO like that series myself.

I wonder if the strong female leads of Tessa and Chidori would be attractive to some of the girls round here that like Anime? They're great characters - and asskicking Melissa Mao would also make an interesting female character too.

Haven't seen any part of the second series yet. The storyline of FMP will start where the series start and we will take it from there. It can lead wherever we want it to lead. If you like the series and would like to patricipate you can sign up here.

Kaname Chidori -

Sosouke Sagara - Gothmaster

Tessa Testarossa - Dirtyninjagirl

Kurtz Weber - Steiner

Melissa Mao -

Gauron - Onimaru

If anyone is interrested in Gauron (The main bad guy) you need to know how to play a villain.

Well, vacant prettyboy Kurz could be great fun. I'm not sure I can take myself as seriously as I'd need to play Souske and I'm not crazy enough for Gauron - so it's handy I feel like playing the bishie. ;)

Kurtz is great fun and i hope you won't be to serious if you take the role. No one takes Kurtz seriosly, least of all himself :)

I'd gladly take Tessa, I love how she can play the total innocent one minute and then have a completely different agenda the next, this is especially obvious in the second series when she sneeks into Sagara's bed. Also to make sure this thread gets off the ground I'd also be willing to play Chidori as well if noone else takes it.

I sign you up as Tessa and we will see if we can get more writers onboard :)

Well as I said I'd be interested in joining, I know a fair bit about the show, and as for some one to play Gauron, I've had experience playing a villan before. And in SRP they usually get to have the most fun so if you'll have me I'll take him.

If you haven't seen it i strongly advice that you do Dragon. It is both action filled and hillarious.

Or, for a more indepth and slower paced experience, pick up the Manga. It's excellent and many of the details are more visible.
