Today an author called 'HDCust883' published a story called 'Fucking Harley'.

It is straight theft from a 5-Chapter story of the same title, published earlier this year by Epicuria. It lifts not only title and in part the storyline, but even entire paragraphs from Epicuria's work, which I understand to be copyright.

I know this tale of Epicuria's well, as I edited it for her.

Is there a mechanism whereby HDCust883 can be banned fron Lit for such blatant theft? Has this occured before, and if so what happened?

I thank you in anticipation for your advice and assistance.

good looking out. i'm glad you were able to spot the plagiarism and call it. hooray for good editors! :)

Hey, that's an editor's job. I also look out for my own stories of course!

The thing that really gets me about Epicuria's thief is: he's so fucking stupid, he even used her story-title.

If it had been called something different, I probably wouldn't have noticed and read it.

But then if you're stupid enough to steal, there's a good chance you're stupid enough to fuck it up and get caught.

Unfortunately, story theft isn't anything new. If you do a Google search on an unique string of words from one of your stories (or of a story you've edited) you might be surprised and disappointed at the result. I've had things stolen wherein the title was changed, but the content was not. There are tricky bastards out there.

Just to say a big thanks to jomar for your help. Laurel has just mailed me to say the bastard's sorry tales have been pulled.

And McKenna, thanks for the info. Epicuria's stories are good enough to motivate a shit to want to copy. I doubt any of mine are. (blushes modestly)

Good for you. And good for Jomar for helping you to be able to take care of it. Kuddo's to Laurel for getting it removed so promptly.

Mckenna where'd all your poems go?

So the story was here? On Lit? With the very same title? So on in the genre list they would be side-by-side? Wow. That is brilliant. I can't imagine the motivation to do such a thing.

Now, if only my writing were good enough to attract a theft! Shoot, I just be happy with readers. Oh wait, I digress.

Glad it all worked out.
