Ditto. I think the funniest quote to come out of this so far (though there are many funny ones) is from the Lars/Chuck D. debate on Charlie Rose, where Lars said something to the effect of, "If you don't want to pay $16 for a CD, you're the greedy one!" What makes this even funnier is that the major record labels were recently indicted for price fixing of CD's.

This is revenge, big-time. The recording industry thought they could keep on gouging the consumer, forcing us to pay $16-25 for an album. If they'd kept their prices lower, Napster would've been less attractive.

And BTW, if Napster hurts CD sales so much, why is the new Britney Spears record on pace to break all sales records? Why did it sell 500,000 it's first week? That album's available all over Napster.

It's a joke. Napster's good for artists, bad for greedy record labels. The artists against Napster are ignorant puppets for corporate greed.

Fuck the music industry,
Big ass corporate mother fuckers who think they know what is best for the Youth of today and the fucking punk scene.

as you can tell I am bitter. I think that Metallica needs to quit being babys about somthing that could potentially help them get more money

I am a recording artisit and I have spent my fair share of money recording songs, and promoting my band. And once the album is done the first thing that is gonna happen is it is going up on napster where people can download it and say "this band is tight, I wanna go buy their CD now"

Why are we complainging about the royalties? we dont get shit anyway we get 25 cents of each CD the rest is all Mark Up.
and even 15 of that 25cents goes to the record company for studio time and tape, so I guess my plea for the industry is

SHUT THE FUCK UP AND JUST PLAY THE MUSIC

thank you for your time

Why stop at the music industry? The entertainment industry as a whole is out of control.

They pay Tom Cruise $20 million for a movie and charge eight or nine bucks at the box office.

My mother pays almost $30 a month for a few pathetic cable TV channels, without even one of the premium channels like HBO or Showtime.

Pro athletes make more money than God, and it costs over $100 to take a family of four to a baseball game.

It comes down to a question of where you are going to spend your dollars for entertainment. I get more fun out of an hour on Literotica than I do out of anything on the TV. Local amatuer shows are better than the stuff you see in the movie theater. We have a local race track that is more exciting than watching the Super Speedway races. And the minor league baseball team in Vermont still sells three dollar tickets for all games.

The hell with Hollywood and the pros. Local entertainment is better and cheaper.

Or maybe I'm just a cheap bastard.
