Over a year ago, I went with some friends to protest the FTAA (Think NAFTA on steroids) in Miami. There were around 10000 other people there who also didn't want to see any expansion of these free trade agreements that have cost us so many jobs.

I own a home, I have a college degree, and I work a professional job. What I met on the streets of Miami was beyond belief.

We were met by a full police state presence. Men in military gear and black suits. The media was embedded with the police. During the course of events, I was gassed and shot in the leg with a rubber bullet. I was not doing anything but trying to get the fuck out of there.

But what's happening with the Shaivo protestors? Come on Jeb, bust a few fucking skulls! Shoot the freaks with some rubber bullets. Spray a little tear gas on them, and I bet that tape will come off their mouths in a hurry. Do them like you did us and let's see how much they *really* want Terri to live.

You are still a prick.

As intriguing as the offer is, I'll pass.

Jeb Bush really isn't my type, and who knows where the media has been.

Seriously Couture, what did you expect? The people behind Bush are either corrupt, True Believers or both.

They can't be fair and restrained in their use of power. They see no reason to. They're right after all, in their minds.

Let's not forget the Clinton era in all of this...

Again, it is not a symptom of the right wing, it's only a phase of empire.

Couture,

Why does this surprise you? This is correct behavior for people and/or groups who wish to push their views and beliefes on others. (I think they must have a manual for this.)

If you protest against what those in power believe, then you will be vilified and punished. If you protest for what they want, then nothing will happen to you, and you will be supported with money and lawyers. This has been true ever since mankind wanted to change something. (Remember what Good King George and Parliament said about the Upsart Colonies who wanted their freedom?)

Be prepared for it to get worse instead of better. The shiavo case will have repurcusions most of us can't even begin to think of. (You can see some of the repurcusions right here on the board in some of the discusions about the Shiavo case and about President Bush and his policies.)

Dear Ms. Couture,

On behalf of the Greater Miami Convention and Vistors Bureau, thank you for visiting the Magic City. We're delighted to hear that you found your visit memorable, surprising and even educational.

P.S. You're right about Governor Bush. He's a prick. Get used to him.

No, let's continue to assign him equal blame for whatever happens under this and future administrations. Those eight years were a living nightmare.

I realize you never get tired of saying the Bushes are evil, but I will eventually get tired of trying to remind you all that they are all evil. So just relax, chill out. Go back to ignoring history and what really goes on in the world. Speaking of ignoring things, I thought you put me on ignore a long time ago. What's your problem?

(And in case you forgot, I keep saying the blame is not theirs. They do exactly as much as what we let them do.)
