From Pending to Approval

My question is a simple one. How long a time span should be expected between submitting a story and having it posted? Does it vary from time to time? From category to category? When does that "pending" usually change to "posted"?

This is a question for MG. :)

Hi bill, have a seat. You will need to be seated.

:rose:

It depends on several things, did you cut, and past, or boost it from your computer to lit? In any case between 3, and 10 days or so.

You're a braver man than I, Dirt Man. MG will be cross!

The Answer

Usually three to five days. Sometimes as long as a week if the editor is out chasing cats again.

Wait... I am or bill is?

And bill, the ANSWER was quite painless, wasn't it? Now you need to know when the virgin tag gets off, right? :p

Maybe we are both adorable? I noticed the "virgin" tag, and I admit I have been wondering how they knew...

Okay but I am adorabler than you. :p

bill, did you just question their knowledge??!! OMG!

For the record: newbies cannot be adorable. Damp has always been.

NEWBIE??? Now, don't get mean. Let's see, I have been using the Internet since 1981 (long before the WWW), writing professionally since 1980, and first posted a story on Literotica in August of 2001. I don't think anyone on the Internet has called me a newbie since about 1982. Actually, I find it refreshing to be young again.

I notice that both Perdita and Damppanties have been on Literotica for considerably less time than me, so I guess technically they are the newbies. I think they are adorable anyway, and they have a lot more time to post on the forums than I do, judging from the message count

No offense, Bill. With 9 posts, and not all of them on the AH, you are a newbie to "us". Accept it with dignity and humility and we'll all get along (or not ;) ).

Welcome, and Happy New Year!

At my age I have plenty of dignity. Humility has always been in short supply, however. You are quick, though. You replied to my last post before I could edit it.

I am not taking offense, and I certainly posted all of my comments in a spirit of fun. Let's see, if you were born in 1980, that means I have children 10 years older than you. It's shameful the things I have been thinking about you. Perhaps I am a dirty old man. How did that happen? I used to be so nice.

I did not read this. :p

No! I didn't.

Aw, stop your whinging, Bill. My 'youngest' son was born two years before Damp  .

cheers, Perdita

Why the difference in approval time if you cut and paste to "Boosting" it from your computer? Plus I'm not sure what the hell that expression means but i take it you mean send as an attachment?

As you can tell I'm not too savvy...and very quiet.

I average a post every three days...I'll get to a 1000 posts by 2010 I reckon.

So I'm an old newbie to most people:confused:

There isn't any difference in time between cut'n paste and uploading. You get additional time if you email it because it goes through the editor's list twice.

The time differences are from two simple facts: 1) one human being does the work every night and she doesn't do the same number of stories every night and B) the number of submissions added to list fluctuates daily as people submit more or less.

There are two things that affect the length of time of submission on your end aside from emailing the story: A) if it's on or just across the "acceptable" content line in categories such as non-consent it may take her a while to think on it before approving/rejecting it and 2) how often you open your own story and press submit on it. Every time you do that, you stick your story at the back of the editor's list. You could conceivably keep it from her forever that way.

Some of us have children twice as old as damppanties. Some of us still think of their youngest as a beautiful baby girl although she is is five years older than damppanties.

When I say "you youngsters" I include you, bdsmBill.

Thanks Muffin. An explanation I understand perfectly. A very rare posting on Lit. Normally the answers confuse me more than I already was ! Seeing as my latest story was a nonconsent ot could be a while. Though it isn't "Nasty". now I'm confusing myself...can you have a non-nasty nonconsent? Whatever happened to Extreme? where all the really nasty stuff lived?

Was there a reason given for its demise? not my cup of tea but I daresay if you opened a category with a label such as "Extreme" you realised the content.

Personally I prefer a blackmail type nonconsent over an erotic coupling. Different strokes and all that.

This is my most verbose statement on Lit for years so thankyou for reading this far

If you have...

I was glad to see Extreme go. There was some inconsistancy, I think, as to which stories got sent there. You could have a lot nastier story with female victims than you could in a story with male victims without getting it sent to Extreme. I had a fairly mild story sent there once, and I never had any idea why, since much more hard core stories were regularly being put into non-consent.

You can read the one that got sent away at:
http://www.bdsmlibrary.com/stories/story.php?storyid=1303

I guess all the extreme stories are now being posted over at bdsmlibrary.com

With the current political climate from both parties regarding censorship, I can see why site operators are nervous.

Also, I don't mean to be too critical. This is far and away the best run site of its kind on the web. The folks here do an amazing job.
