Does it ever bother any of you, when people you're used to conversing with suddenly vanish.

The CarolineOh incident made me realise that if some of the friends I talk to, just stopped posting and never replied to my emails, I wouldn't have a clue what was going on.

Without Caroline's good friend coming online to inform us, we wouldn't have known a thing until she came back.

Which all makes me feel guilty, for not informing my friends that I was taking a break from the board a while back.

I just thought I'd share that, in case someone here means a lot to you and maybe you'd like a way to get in touch, other than the channels mentioned.

m not sure that online people are really friends, at least in my definition af a friend. But I do wonder where some people have gone. Like Mensa, I enjoyed his posts and his thoughts.

I beg to differ, I think you can make close friends online.

Although I suppose it all depends on how willing you are to open up to someone you've never seen, at least in the here and now sense.

Maybe, but I havnt had that experience yet. while I enjoy this board and most of the posters i havnt formed any bonds. My friends go back many years, they have seen me at my best and at my worst. and still they are my friends. not sure that can happen here.:)

I have made some life long friends online and would really be missing them if I hadnt talk with them in awhile. My husband knows to let a handful of people from my online life know if anything were to happen to me also. When you talk to someone close to every day and sometimes hours at a time, bonds do form. I would be devastated to lose some of them.

I'd be devastated if you suddenly disappeared, I count you as a good friend.:rose:

My best real life friend knows who to contact and has their email addresses. A couple of months ago when I was in the hospital, she was the one who contacted my online friends to let them know why I wasn't around.

Good to have friends isn't Allison, I'm glad to see you made a complete recovery.
