I just read a thing on CNN where at the Arkansas state fair that frid twinkies are the rage.

They freeze them, then batter them, then deep-fry them. The outer coating of Batter forms a shell while the icing inside is still frozen.

And we wonder why Americans are obese.

What's even better, is when they then dip the fried twinkies in chocolate, and cover them with sprinkles. Wait for them to set a minute and cover them with whipped cream.

Chey saw them at our State fair.

Also, they had deep fried snickers

and

key-lime pie dipped in dark chocolate on a stick. I just can't visualize that one.

and

Beer.

Mmmmmmmm, beeeeeeeer

A friend at work who was up at the State Fair here said they had them, as well. Personally, I can't quite see myself ingesting it. I looked up a recipe. The twinkies are frozen or chilled first, then battered in a flour & vinegar based batter. The Twinkies are impaled on a popsicle stick, battered and fried. Makes me wanna hurl.

I still haven't figured out the concept of fried snickers bars yet. *gags*

They fry the twinkies in lard, right?

Well, it calls for vegetable oil, but I'm thinking lard is more appropriate!

Two fried Twinkies and a side order of heart attack.

What?

Why yes I WOULD like to SuperSize that for 39 cents.

______

Hmmm Nora...

Spreading a little Crisco all over you for a slip sliding good ol' time does make me think of you as a hot twinkie!

Apparently it's popular all over

I read an article whose author was tripping out that fried Twinkies were available at the Los Angeles County Fair in Pomona. Just when you thought that Twinkies were about the unhealthiest snack possible, somebody figures out a way to make the orignial version almost seem like organic health food.

I just wanna know,

Who-the-fuck thought to do this in the first place?

Any one ever tried fried pickles? With Ranch dressing! Deep fried ice cream is good too! *kills over from heart attack*

Yummy!

My Favorite Is Those Deep Fried Bananas They Serve You After You Enjoy A Truck Load Of Sushi!

A Little Vanilla Ice Cream And It's Heaven:D

Deep Fried candy bars and Oreos are supposed to be the "NEXT big thing". That's sad!

I have a recipe for deep fried corn dogs that are soooo gooood, just ask Bratcat! PM if you want it!

I found that answer while I was looking for the recipe, actually. Apparently they originated in a NYC fish & chip shop. The deep fried candy bars have been a Scottish staple for a while.

Yup, I did. I didn't believe you when you posted about them before I went to the fair this year. Then when I actually saw the signs for them at the food stands, I still couldn't believe it.

Who are you calling a sad fucker?

For your information you can now purchase deep fried Mars Bars in at least one Paris restaurant.

And before you ask, no I''ve never eaten one.
