Errr...I can see why you'd think that, but:
- your definition for liberalism is absent, really.
- have you seen some of the PMs guys send girls around here?
- being able to talk about sex does not make one liberated, nor liberal.

To answer your lawyer/rapist question:
- even rapists need representation. Would I willingly take on the case of a person who admitted to committing the crime they're on trial for? Did they admit it to the police, or just to me?
- Lit. has nothing to do with any of it, especially rape. Rape's not about sex, it's about power, control, degradation. Nowhere in any of that is sex the prime factor.

I think that it takes a lot of courage to stand by your convictions despite moral outrage. There are a lot of jokes about lawyers and sharks but the truth is, that they do a very hard job that requires an almost complete and total lack of fundamentalism. You cannot be judgmental and an attorney. Not a good one anyway. Because they have to be completely neutral.

I also have to agree that I am not one of those people. I am too full of anger and would never be able to defend someone if there were a chance they could be guilty. I also, however, believe that someone MUST defend them. Because if he can be judged and justice is to remain blind, then what happens when its my turn to be judged?
