I'm looking for a basic video editing software that's ideally freeware. I've found a lot online, but I thought to solicit personal recs from my fellow perverts.

Thanks in advance.

My own video software was a long way from free, but I have a couple friends who are happy with Microsoft Movie Maker. It has drag-and-drop capability whichmakes editing faster and easier. They're using a Windows XP o.s. and I don't know if it's compatible with other operating systems. My guess is yes because Microsoft has about 15 zillion add-0ns and updates available.
(Free downkloads at windows.microsoft.com)

Apple's iMovie is very similar but it is for Mac operating systems. This has the rep of being the best editing software avaiklable for Macs, BUT it's free only when buying a new Mac. Adding it fter the fact costs $$$ although I don't know how many. (apple.com)

Avid FreeDV is outstanding, but it takes a bit of time and work to learn how to use. The good news is that it's as free as its name implies. (avid.com)

There are dozens of others but many are very limited and/or troublesome according to several people who have used them.

Avid FreeDV is gone. It isn't avaliable, so says their web site...

We'll be looking for good info too, we have a lot of videos we've made of ourselves, but can't show them because we can't find free software, or at least cheap, that allows us to blur the faces of us out so others can enjoy. :(

lightworks was recently made free (both in cost and as in open-sourced software), but it does seem quite the professional tool.

I have not tried it as I run Linux, but there has been some buzz about it.

Do a search for " how to blur faces in videos video - 5min" and you'll find a good video on how to do it and also free software to accomplish the task.

On Yahoo it comes up right after a video link.

It also show how to alter the voice using free software.

Thanks for this. Apologies for the delay in responding; I neglected to subscribe to this thread and promptly forgot about it.

Since your forte is software, are you partial to any of the following on this list? http://www.akascope.com/2011/07/15/free-video-editing-software/

My computer came with Windows Movie Maker, so I'm wondering if that'll do the trick.
