......I have part of a story where a Republican Congressman from Pennsylvania develops a relationship with a Democratic Congresswoman from New Mexico. He's Jewish and moderate. She's Hispanic and liberal. She's also a single mom. He's a confirmed bachelor with a reputation as a skirt-chaser. Any thoughts? I want them to fall for each other while working on taking down a corrupt cabal within the House (a bipartisan cabal, so as not to endorse either party- they're both crooked, anyway).

Sounds interesting. I believe there was actually a novel written along similar lines recently, but the name is escaping me.

Cool. Well, I'm planning to include a feel similar to "First Monday In October", the movie about the first female Supreme Court justice being a conservative. Well, that's not the theme, but the kind of co-operation that she had with her once skeptical liberal male colleague Justice Daniel Snowe on an investigation into a ruthless conglomerate called "Omnitech". Except here it becomes something more than platonic (I don't recall a romance between Jill Clayburgh's character and Walter Matthau's). And it is set in the House of Representatives, with a corrupt cabal of leaders of both parties being their target.

And Congressman Sundermann begins his physical relationship with Congresswoman Vasquez BEFORE the probe starts.
