BlondeBeauty had an exam today, so I wished her well, kissed her, told her I loved her, and said goodbye.
For those who don't know, those who know and are interested, and those who know and are sick of hearing about it, BlondeBeauty is the Board Member who has stolen my heart.
Later in the afternoon, I IMed her to find out how she did. She thought she did well, she said. I wanted to talk more, but she didn't. She was clearly upset, and she wouldn't tell me why. I decided to give her some time to calm down.
We reconnected about an hour later, and she seemed better. We talked, and everything seemed okay, but she still wouldn't tell me what was wrong. She didn't want to worry me.
Now the worst thing you can do to a person who lives a great distance away is to tell them not to worry without giving them an explanation. I eventually dragged it out of her.
On the way to the exam, I learned, she and a friend got into a car accident. They are okay. Cuts and bruises, mostly. Toots has a concussion. Still it was pretty scary.
BlondeBeauty went from the accident scene to take her exam, and she thinks she did well. She's a trouper, that toots.
I've been talking to her ever since, and she has worked harder to comfort me than the other way around. There is just such an intense feeling of helplessness that comes from being so far away. She says that she's fine, but I don't know how much of that is a brave front. If I had her in my arms, I'd be able to tell.
Forgive the rambling. I thought I was a lucky man to just have her in my life. Now I know what luck truly is.
Toots, I love you. I am so thankful that you are safe and in my life. *HUG*
