D.C. police officer was found dead of an apparent suicide last week in his Virginia home.
Police confirmed that officer Gunther Hashida, had responded to the Capitol insurrection
Jan. 6 DC Metropolitan Police Department's Special Operations Division,
member of the Emergency Response Team

D.C. police also confirmed Monday that Kyle DeFreytag, an officer assigned to the Fifth
District who also responded to the insurrection, was found dead July 10.

Two other police officers who were at the Capitol on Jan. 6 also took their own lives
in the days that followed the attack.

D.C. Officer Jeffrey Smith died Jan. 15 and Capitol Police Officer Howard Liebengood
died Jan. 9

He resigned following the 2021 storming of the United States Capitol.

The board is comprised of the House sergeant-at-arms, Senate sergeant-at-arms, architect
of the Capitol and U.S. Capitol Police chief

Senate sergeant-at-arms, Michael Stenger was hired in 2018 when Senate Minority
Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) was majority leader

Michael C. Stenger is an American law enforcement officer who served as the 41st
Sergeant at Arms of the United States Senate from April 16, 2018, to January 7, 2021
He resigned after a violent mob of Trump supporters stormed the capitol.

Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.), a trusted Pelosi ally who chairs the committee in charge
of Capitol security logistics, said Sund misled her about the security preparations for
the Jan. 6. session. Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund resigned.

Deputy Sergeant-at-Arms Jennifer Hemingway took over as the interim leader of the Senate’s security

“Inside that building yesterday were the top three people in the line of succession
to become president and it took nearly three hours for any Department of Defense
response to arrive at the Capitol."
