The ad whiz's at Fosters, or should I say thieving plaigerising ad/marketing scum at Fosters have stolen a piece of Canadiana.

The commercial that launched a thousand not for profit parodies and imitations "Joe Canadian" has been ripped off by Fosters Brewing.

They admit that "the germ of the idea" came from the "Joe Canadian" commercial..... Fuck me! Listen to the audio! Its theme, pacing, meter, cadence and accompanying sound affects are used exactly the same way as in the Molson commercial.

I am one pissed off Canuck!

I would like to shoot your pet kangaroo, fuck your wallabees, ram a "barbied prawn" up your arse, knee an aboriginal in the groin, blow up Ayers rock and tell you that the Sydney Opera House is nice, but highly over rated.

Although imitation is the most sincere form of flattery ... we are not amused.

PS Good luck with the games. We'll show you how to do it right in '08 in Toronto.

Don't strain your eyes.... Plaigerize!

Don't blame me! I just live here!

And incedently, I've never even SEEN anyone drinking Fosters! It must be an Eastern States thing. Chef? Nicole? All you foreigners seem to think it's the stuff that comes out of the taps in place of water! I swear to god! I couldn't even tell you what it looks like!

According to the Advertisements here in the States its:

Australia's Champagne!!!

MADDOG, they make is sound as if everyone in Australia only drink Foster's.

Of course, after the first sip I ever had, I would suggest you just flush it directly down the toilet, and skip the middle guy...its more efficient.

Hey! That's our national drink you're dissing there!

I may never have seen, tasted, or even wanted to taste the stuff, but it still hurts when you make fun of it. :( Just kidding! I don't give a rats ass! It probably is shit!

I think it's a big seller here, but not nearly as much as the ad guys would have you believe - Not in Perth anyway. I used to work at a popular Perth Hotel, and the Bottle shop only had a few cartons (24packs) at any one time. It usually lasted a while, and we were never out of stock. I honestly have never seen anyone have it. In the East I think it would sell stacks and that's where most Aussie live anyway - so maybe it is the rest of Australia's champaigne. :) I think I'll get some though just to see what it's like. Could someone describe it?

But we do have some nice beers here - as good as any you'll find overseas. My beer of choice would be Hahn Ice or Carlton Cold (Basically the same), although Crown Larger is my favourite - Just more expensive. I usually end up drinking Enmu Bitter (Which certainly lives up to it's "bitter" name - and I HATE that!), because that's the West Aussie drink of choice and all my uncooth mates buy it and I end up going them halves in a carton. :D

I already did. See my last post...

the toilet comment there. I was trying to be nice.

MADDOG, I have tried Carleton Cold and enjoyed it very much. I have tried a few other Aussie beers over the years and agree you guys have a lot of good beers.

I'd describe it as "Fosters: Australian Piss" personally.

Isn't Victoria Bitter really popular over there? Oh and XXXX aswell.

You bastard! :D

Hey, what's Budweiser like? I'm keen to try that. To Aussie's, that's the American Eqivalent to Fosters. Isn't that like the ONLY beer you guys have? :D

Thinking back, I had a Canadian Beer once called Moosehead (I think). I was already intoxicated, so I can't be sure, but I rated that as one of - if not the best beers I've ever had.

Remind me to tell you about Duff Beer. :)

MADDOG

Yeah Flagg. I think I remember now. Vic Bitter is Australia's Best Selling beer and is widely available in all states (Don't quote me). I have it often but it's not dissimilar to Emu Bitter - and that is very bitter, and I'm more into the smoother beers like Hahn Ice or Carlton Cold.

As For XXXX, I that is HUGE in Queenland I believe, but not so much anywhere else. In fact, this one guy I know bought a single can to schoolies week (End of School) on Rottnest Island just for novelty value, and a crowd actually gathered around him to watch him drink it and guage his reaction to the taste! Seriously! He gave it a tentative thumbs up. :)

I think Budweiser is really kind of evil, but then, I like Corona.Of course, I liked Corona 15 years ago, when you could only buy in the restaurant I worked at.Now I need to find another little known drink & help to make it popular. My friends are seriously into the Ren Faire scene, so they all drink Guinness. I am not even sure what Guinness is, but it is nasty stuff. I didn't like Foster's too much, I think people ike the looks of the can. Packaging is a big deal here. I think the Heineken mini kegs are cute, but not too fond of the taste. I guess it is time for a beer tasting to see what all is out there.

Corona, Corona, Corona!! Care to share a Lime?? Ive been drinking corona since oh nevermind i dont drink im only 20 yrs old im not old enough to drink!! But my mother is a bartender and they have had Corona since i can remember but it just recently became popular!!

Corona... Not a bad drop but it doesn't do a whole lot for me (Except it does seem to grow on me each time I have it.) I mean, I liked it at least as much as my usual beers, but it costs a lot more, and it wasn't really worth it.

But it is beer you know? You shouldn't have to put bits of Lemon and Lime in it to make it worth drinking.

Quite right, E. So what's up with the Aussie attitude regarding the US athletes? Does a country founded by cast-offs and convicts (aborigines excluded) really want to get into a pissing contest with the country that refined the concept? I mean, piss runs downhill and no matter how you turn it, Australia is on the bottom side of the planet. And btw, what about the Kiwis saving your butts by discovering the terrorist plot right in your backyard? I can just hear the gnashing of teeth about that one.

(The next sound you hear is Gaucho running for cover in anticipation of the hailstorm from down under. Cover me, Chandler Bing!)

Oh, yeah. Moosehead is great but my favorite brew has gotta be Dos Equis.

And thanks, E. It's great to be back.

MADDOG

A little involvement and my cousin is a rep for them...

We are thier primary software provider. Shipping costs would prohibit sending product...I think let me check but free stuff like thier merchandise is not a problem. E-mailing you my adress now.

What about our attitude towards US atheletes?

As for the "cast off and convicts" thing, as Billy Joel said "I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints. The sinners are much more fun". That explans why everyone loves us I guess? Except you apparently... Asshole. What happened? Did an Australian Woman reject you or something? Can't imagine why... :D

MADDOG

Yeah Gaucho what did you mean. Apparently i'm out of that news loop.

MadDog

A) Send the address to the e-mail I sent you
B) I didn't think Australian women rejected anybody?

I'm off to search for Elle and Rachel hee hee

I was referring to the quotes from Aussie Long-Jumper Jai Taurima, who said that the American jumpers were "dribblers" and that "you can pretty much knock off the dark guys" because of Sydney's cool climate.

For the record, big fellow, I have nothing against Aussies, especially since (other than the ones I've met on this board) I don't know any. I do have a Kiwi (not on this board) that I'm particulary fond of, though.

But I do apologize for the "cast-offs and convicts" line. All I was trying to do was keep the conversation lively. Maybe a little Moosehead would help? Chandler, can you help me out here? :)

Flagg I thought Brits looked at Aussie's the way Manhatten socialites look at Ozark Mountain "Trailer Trash".

Never understood why?

Hey that's BRITISH convicts you're talking about there son!!!

Let's not forget the IRISH now, shall we? Unless you were lumping them all in together?

And you wouldn't do that, now would you, Flagg? :D

gotta agree

even if it is a nice place to visit (Australia that is, not a bloody Fosters Brewery). But you do know why the aussies like their Fosters cold don't ya? SO they can tell it from the piss.......
