Okay, so here I thought my title was automatically set to "Virgin" simply beacuse I had written only one story and am a relative newbie to the forums. Then I noticed when I was, finally, writing out my bio on my profile that I can pick my own?!

Will I be doomed to be forever a virgin if I do not write myself a new title?

It eventually changes to Experienced, Really Experienced, etc. with the higher number of forum posts. The number of published stories doesn’t matter for this.

Most people just pick a custom title, especially here in the AH.

I don't think so. Somewhere along the line I becaume a guru. Don't know why and don't know how to change mine.

As far as I recall it's 50, 100, 250, 500 and 1,000

The option to upload an avatar comes at 100ish (when that day's refresh is done), guru at 500ish and custom title at 1,000ish.

My main site profile is where I saw I was able to make those changes to begin with (it also give me the option to upload an avatar). I haven't tried either but just assumed they were linked to the forums.

If I can just wait and earn the title of guru or what have you, that will work better for me.

No - that’s not true. You can change it anytime.

Same for profile picture. There’s no requirement of 100 posts to change it; I did it before writing a single post or publishing a story.

Could be - as far as I can recall, three years ago I was able to change it from Virgin when I only had a few posts.

I changed mine after I hit 700 ish posts because I was tired of waiting to see if it'd change on it's own.

I have an interesting story about my chosen title. I was working on the AI and human connection challenge. One of the lines in my prose (NaN) had to do with a poor internet connection. I didn't like "one bar". I decided to take a lunchtime walk in the park by my office to clear my head. Once in the park, I heard a man yelling "Bad WiFi, Bad WiFi" and this tiny brown and black chihuahua was humping a woman's leg. Something clicked in my head and I knew the words I wanted were "Bad WiFi". Now whenever I think of that experience, I laugh.
