I've noticed a couple of threads have jumped from other forums to the AH recently. There was a story posted for crit that first appeared in the Story Discussion Circle board and last night showed up here, and now I see "New Story Advertisements", which I'd originally started in the Story Feedback board, is now in the Hangout.

What's going on? I didn't even know it was possible to do that.

Dr M the Mod from the other forum/s hasdecided the thread doesn't fit in their domain and have moved it over here.

There was alot of disgruntlement over on the How to forum a while ago because lots of threads started to get moved to other forums...

I noticed that! Had to double check to make sure I was in the right place. Odd.

So is this the dawn of the activist moderator? I don't think I've ever seen this before.

well has the story feeback forum got a new moderator?

this kind of thing often happens when someone new steps in...the whole new broom thing I guess.

I've seen it a bit when i was a mainly playground poster, things coming from the personals to the playground ad vice versa and I've seen ones moved from the how to forum to the general board and other places. It doesn't happen much but it does happen...

hi mab,

moderators can relocate threads or lock them down or essentially make them disappear.

out of the blue "What do you think of my story" from a stranger does not belong in story disc. circle, so they are relocated to either AH or Story Feedback, depending on my impression of the seriousness of the author. this has been occuring since i stepped in. in a good mood and with a polite 'author', I leave a redirection in the original forum (though I am not obliged to).

i'm not sure if you're objecting, or just expressing puzzlement. note that they are moved to NONmoderated threads which have minimum rules. so if you have an objection it must be that the original thread loses by such moves; do you think that?

if you look at SDC for the last weeks there are very few 'out of the blue' threads; they all relate to selected stories or process. I hope this is satisfactory to you, but of course i will listen to any 'grassroots' proposals for exceptions.

The New Story Adverstisements thread should be in the Story feedback forum, not here. Maybe someone should pm Laurel and ask it be moved back?

Just checked and story feedback forum does have a new mod. It must be someone's alt because the person joined this Feb and has NO posts.

Personally, I don't see the objection to having the New Story Advertisements thread in the Story Feedback forum (nor do I object to it being here in the AH). I think it's rather heavy handed of the new mod ... and if the AH is going to become the dumping ground for other forums just because it's unmoderated, then we need a moderator.

The SDC has certain ground rules, notably give before you get. Hence, random "what do you think of my story" from people who have never participated before belong to the SF and are rightly moved there by the SDC moderator (Pure). Similarly "looking for such and such story" get moved probably to the GB.

SF WAS unmoderated so far and had very minimal requirements. Conformist is now listed as a moderator and it appears that he/she has already been at work. I've already bitched about no introduction and no ground rules in

https://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?t=326727

IMO, it is a very poor start.

If I understand what happened, I think it is kind of silly to bump a thread asking for feedback out of SDC and into AH, after all wasn't that what the Feedback forum was for?

The downside of moderators is that it tends to evlolve into PC moderation.

But then I am never in favor of moderators because they (like government) interfere with the natural development of ethics, manners, good behavior, etc.

Zoot, if you spend any time at the Literotica Personals or Playground you get used to threads being moved around.. it happens quite a bit over there in fact.

Oh. I didn't know. I think this is the first time I'd ever seen it.

Pure-- No I'm not objecting. I just thought I was losing my mind.

The idea of power-mad moderators does bother me, although I also appreciate the fact that it's good to have someone in charge.

They probably just need a small period of adjustment. :)

But you should take comfort in the fact that there's very little a moderator can do that cannot be reversed by Laurel, if she receives a complaint. ;)

Someone said that they had moved it over here.

But, I looked at all 10 paged of AH and it's not here! Sucks, doesn't it?
I think it should be moved back, if anyone can find it. It BELONGS there, not here!
God couldn't move it here. Heck, he couldn't even save the POPE! (God rest his soul)
But a new Mod can move or delete threads and posts with one little click.
What a power feeling that must be!

Threads can't be deleted. Only moved out of your sight. ;)

Magic,

Actually, any mod can do it. Yes, it's an incredible rush. Often I spend whole evenings moving threads like 'have you seen the story of the dwarf voyeur?' or 'Tom had the hots for his friend Sally's mother... can you help me continue' to other forums. Especially the threads on Byellorussian teens on webcams are a thrill to move that can hardly be described in words.

*chuckle*

Pure, I think that's the first time I've seen your sense of humor. Give a bit of of a run now and then.

I still don't know how they hid it from ME.
